against Pompey. I've been anti-Collins for a while but as a stand alone match, over the 90 minutes the manager didn't really do anything wrong. One could argue about the substitution, but the tactics were good and there was a lot more drive and purpose through the entire team. Well done.
However, I'm still anti-Collins because this kind of performance and effort has been absent for months. That's down to Collins' negativity, apparent for a long time. If he'd instilled positivity in the players months ago we'd already be comfortably in the play-offs imo.
Collins MUST motivate the team to show the same drive for the remaining games now. If he can the season may still be saved but if he can't or retreats back into tippy tappy nowhere football again it will be an classic/appalling example of how not to get the best out of your players over a season

I was daring to dream at 2-1 up, then the penalty and late goal reminded me of other times at Fratton when we hadn’t quite got what we deserved.

Not Collins this time, it was the bent Ref. Totally ignored most of their fouls and then a very dodgy penalty, and where he he got all that stoppage time from ...... Is he related to Ferguson?

But that doesnt make sense. He'd got his result by 90 minutes so you'd think he'd minimise any extra time.

Didn't ignore their fouls, nailed-on penalty, stoppage time was about right (I predicted 7 mins) One of the better refs we've had this season, I'd say. Were you watching another game?

Thought it was a great game by both teams, proper exciting football.

Stupid headless chicken football by Mcatee though, but apart from that excellent by Barnsley.

They were winning before stoppage time even started. It was us that needed added stoppage time, not them.

Thowt we looked decent and deserved a point. still don't agree on the penalty but if ya stick ya leg out it's 50/50 he'll give it. terrible defending at the end..On the upside I think we showed enough to beat or draw with Blackpool and Northampton..

I think you need to watch the pen back fella. Macatee dives in asif hes a cemter half and gets none of the ball.

O, the issue is stoppage time within the 8 minutes stoppage time, not a second played absolutely ridiculous, Crowd not returning the ball, time wasting, and if you think it’s alright for Pack, for example, who didn’t even get a talking to for his numerous offences whilst we get carded for very little by comparison, then I don’t know.

Nor does he get the man, so in theory he hasn’t fouled him. However, I can see why the ref gives it in real time

He gets more of the man than he does the ball.

A nailed on penalty. Unnecessary though, he was going nowhere. More upset about the goal from a corner. Zonal defending, or whatever it is, that’s two goals in two games. Do we need a defensive coach?

Collins didn't ask Mcatee to do a strikers tackle that completely changed a game we were in control of.

Agree with you. We were the better side, but our game Management in the last 15 minutes or so is terrible.

Credit to Collins for getting it right most of the game - good performance and tactics looked spot on. But, for me he then went and ruined it with the overly negative substitution of putting on an out of form centre half (for a midfielder btw), when we were holding our own. He justified it post-match by saying he felt we were losing headers, so what happens? McCart's first touch is a woeful header resulting in a needless corner, from which they score with a virtually free header. Double whammy as we then have an ultra defensive line-up on field so no chance of getting back into the game in the short time that was left.

Sorry but that decision cost us a point imho

The facts differ from your opinion though...BFC under Collins have gained more points from losing positions than any other.

He doesn’t get the ball, so why do you say he gets more of man the ball. Until their player actually went down there was no contact. Any collision was after he had decided to go down.
