Just watched the highlights and it was never a penalty. Tackle from the side, clearly gets the ball player falls over. Disgraceful decision.
Plenty disagree though. Penalty for me. I always look and ask ‘would I have wanted us to be given that’ and watching the side angle on replay I definitely would. Consistency is the killer for me though. By contrast, Devante Cole had two stonewallers waved away in successive games. Was a poor tackle by Macca IMO. If you go to ground and miss the ball, you’re in big trouble.
Pen for me, he's seen Mcatee and looked for it but there's contact, otherway round were screaming for it.
I'm not sure if there was the same angle as what was shown on ifollow last night, but there's one from behind which clearly shows that McAtee didn't get any contact on the ball. He's gone down incredibly soft, but sadly, McAtee's poor challenge gives him that opportunity.
If you watch from the other angle he doesnt get the ball - Their guy goes down easily and its the sort of decision we never seem to get but I would be demanding a pen if it was for us. Most neutrals would say it was a pen and I am inclined to agree, but as @Marc says we have had 3 blatant ones not given in recent games thats what really irks. FWIW I thought yesterdays ref was decent and can see why he gave the pen -In real time at the ground I thought it looked a rash challenge but it was far end to us so wasnt surprised when the ref pointed to the spot but wanted to see a replay to be sure, having seen it the problem was McAtee diving in not a bad decision from the ref
Yeah, looking at that, he didn't get the ball but you can't tell if there was contact with the player. Still looks like simulation to me.
Seen it for more than one angle he gets none of the ball. Stupid to jump in like that player going no where. Penalty all day long.
Thats why I said he went down easily be honest you would want it at the other end - problem for the ref in real time is McAtee lunges in misses the ball with a clumsy challenge and their guy falls over often they get given - my anger is reserved for McAtee for a stupid challenge he didnt need to make rather than the ref this time
I think contact is minimal, but McAtee's reaction saying he got the ball says to me that he knew he'd made contact with their man.
Subjective whether it was a pen or not but if you notice the linesman has a perfect view (a lot better than the ref)and never moves where you would have thought he would have raised his flag if he thought it was a pen.
Penalty for me, its just one of them things, 5hit happens, i enjoyed the game, we were on top and the better team until the penalty, it shows were good enough to mix it in this league with the best, its not over till the final whistle on the final day, keep the faith, C,O,Y,R.
