that isn't Warnock or Duff (not gonna come), isn't potentially out of reach financially but looks as though they have potential to get Barnsley moving in the right direction? If so, can you email the board and tell them?
If Donny don't make it (they deserve it after this amazing run of results), I'd like Grant McCann please. Not a chance, obvs, once he clocks the board's way of working, but I live in hope.
So, just supposing....... a win next Saturday and the playoffs are secured. A new mini-season starts. Collins wins through and we are in the Championship. [The Board say "right - now we press on!"] [OK, I admit that last bit is less believable.] None of this is impossible as we stand. So why would we even be talking about a new coach in this moment?
You may think it's unlikely to happen. But you can't say it ain't gonna happen, because it still could. Plenty of time for consideration of the coaching position afterwards, but it is lunacy to think it can be raised at this point.
Statistically there are seven higher performing coaches at League One level by points per game: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lea...nIdVon=1969&saisonIdBis=2023&anzahl=25&group=
My comments weren't about points total, they were more of a longer term comment regarding the dreadful football under the current coach. IF Barnsley were to go up under Collins we would be subjected to the same awful, unentertaining, confidence-reducing garbage at a higher level. I for one could not possibly contemplate that, hence the post about a potential replacement. I suspect, rightly or wrongly, that you've not seen the team very often this season. If you have seen them a few times then you'll know why I posted.
That's fair do's, KCP. But I think we have to wait until playoffs/promotion are impossible before we start talking about a replacement for Collins. If promotion happens (which is still not impossible) then I doubt the Board will be too exercised about how the team have played. To answer your other point, I haven't been to Oakwell since February 2020. Not feeling the love any time soon!
No chance of Derby, Portsmouth or Bolton bosses coming here. Darren Moore has just failed at Port Vale and almost messed up Wednesday's promotion run as badly as Collins has ours. Pretty sure Nathan Jones has been discussed and dismissed before. Leaves Skubala who is relatively untried and may well not fancy leaving Lincoln for what would be a sideways step when another good season could see him moving to the Championship.
Hey here's an absolutely insane idea lol... Why don't we stop this coach rubbish, and start appointing proper managers again. Who get to do managerial things, like having a say in transfers and managing the squad, instead of just coaching them to fitness etc. Yeah I know lol, I said it was an insane/stupid idea!.
