    Just wow!...I certainly didn't expect that.
    As stated on here something must have happened.It looked obvious that the team and Collins were not in harmony and our playing style has been dross (well at home) but can't believe the timing.
    I've never said to get rid but well.....good luck fella and thank you, I'm really sorry things haven't worked out.

    Feels absolutely crackers timing to me. However, if the owners have lost all confidence in his ability to get a result on Saturday, then it’s explainable.

    Honest question for anybody - which system and player combination do we feel is right for Saturday and hopefully the play-offs.
    I genuinely have no idea.

    Those of us who wanted him to stay aren't right.

    Something had to give, whatever the timing. Let's not take it out on each other and unite behind the badge Saturday for one last push. Then see what the play-off lottery brings us.

    The only sad thing in all this is that once again, we start a new year from complete scratch come August. Gaffer, core players , CEO, DOF .........

    I agree with you on this Jay - I keep seeing comments along the lines of “with the quality we have we should be doing better” or “with the players we have for this league”.

    I just can’t see where that quality is?
    MDG a lad from a division above part time in France?
    Shepherd who played a while from ponty?
    We had 2 strikers Dallas and shaw who were shipped out?
    Cotter?mccart? Both poor / just look at their previous teams and playing records.

    I come to the conclusion people must mean
    Williams
    Cadden
    Connell
    Kane

    Cadden is a lad from FGR, Kane and Williams have only really ever played for us in league 1 or getting relegated from championship. Connell is a young lad and has missed most of the season
    We’ve fell into the trap of thinking our ‘best of a terrible bunch’ are quality - they’re not. I don’t think other teams think our players are better than theirs.

    Ordinarily I'd agree with you about it being idiotic. It just doesn't seem right does it? However, in this particular case, although the timing with one regular game left looks weird its the correct decision for me. Actually, I think he should have gone weeks ago. That's the weirdness for me. I would have thought the board would have kept him and only relieved him after the season. Must be to do with season tickets. So yes it seems idiotic but for me its idiotic they've not acted sooner

    That's exactly what we did when Heckingbottom replaced LJ. They didn't even backfill his old role, and the standard improved enough to get us promoted.

    I would see the logic, perhaps in doing this if we had someone lined up to take over for four games heavily incentivised by a bonus payment for promotion…..but…..

    I think that the first half at Blackpool was so terrible, and the reaction so toxic, that all the usual norms were cast aside.

    It really was that bad.

    A few on here spoke previously of him losing the dressing room, the timing suggests there was some merit in that.

    I completely agree....this stuff about our players walking into any team in the league is just bull used as a stick to beat Collins with.
