I think it is pretty strong squad compared to the vast majority of this league. Herbie Kane alone cost more than the entire squad of most of our opponents

Roberts looked very good earlier in the season not sure if carrying an injury or lost confidence due to ooor management but a decent player.

Cadden and Williams best wing back combination in the league last year. Both gone backwards though one played out of position most of the season

some weakness at centre half but Earl very highly rated at L1 level.

Phillips / Connell / Kane all highly rated at this level.

Cole near the top of the goal charts.

McAtee clearly good enough for a higher level.

Not sure how you extrapolate that to be say worse than the Cambridge squad

 

I’m surprised that he’s not been given until the end of the season, though I can’t pretend that I’m disappointed by the decision.

 

Maybe Devaney thinks he can do a better job, or the board are tempted to appoint him for next season. Next match is like a work trial and will decide if that happens or not.

 

Marsh seemed to have a go at his tactics post match saying "we showed last 20 minutes what we can do when we attack on the front foot" maybe he lost the dressing room. 9 points from a possible 36 since the Bolton game would also point to that.

If it works out they might, if we don’t get promoted they will be slated for not acting sooner.

 

so you don’t think Cole and McAtee are better cf than say Stevenage or Cambridge can play?

Devaney’s record in management is played 3 lost 3.

Agree. Even just in terms of goals, Cole and McAtee have 30 league goals between them, and Philips has 11 from midfield.
There's real quality in this team which is why I think they have been able to get results despite nobody knowing exactly what our style of play is.

 

Strong action taken by a board who realise that with the awful negative stuff put out by Collins there was little chance of us being successful in the playoffs if we did indeed even make it to them.

Can only be applauded

 

I agree Helen about the players but it does happen in football Kennedy lost the dressing room at Lincoln and was sacked as a result.
It’s also interesting that it is just him and not the coaching team(Stead etc) which normally it is.

 

youre now asking if our players are worse than every player in every team in the league -

I said

No in summary I don’t think our squad is much better if at all, in multiple positions across the board and it’s the worse I’ve seen at oakwell for years.
