If we had (which I'm not sure we would) have got in the play offs with collins in charge. We would have had about 11k fans to watch Collins ball pass round that back 3 then hoof. He was the wrong appointment from the off and when your players are slating your tactics post match its time to go.
I hope Martin Devaney has Bobby Hassell, Tom Harben and Nicky Eden alongside him for backup in the dugout on Saturday, and on the training pitch this week.
Aiden Marsh in his interview after the game said "I think we showed in the last 20 minutes what we can do when we get on the front foot and attack teams" maybe slating is exaggerated but it definitely seemed a dig.
Nobody has. Aiden Marsh gave an interview trying to put a positive spin on the last 20 minutes of a game. It was the same when Kane gave that interview and we all decided he was boring so immediately wanted to leave - despite having his best season as a Barnsley player in terms of goals and assists. Someone posted a list of managers who have left us in the last ten or so years - and its so frustrating. We either have gaffers who decide to move on, or we sack them and look for short term answers - like with Stendel and Collins. We are currently in a playoff position with one game to go, when folk at the start of the season were expecting mid-table due to Duff leaving us (who incidentally people now want back for some reason) and with our defence being decimated, our second best forward leaving on the eve of the season, and our best midfielder battling a pretty serious illness. He also played a big part in recruiting Pines (who started really well), and following his injury our form has dipped. Yet we're still in with a chance of promotion - albeit we've had a dip in form over the last 10 or so games. People will accuse me of fellating Neil Collins - but I'm not. I don't think he's the greatest thing since the cold side of the pillow, I just think it's absolute madness to sack him. This cycle of manager churn frustrates me more than anything - it just means that we can't build anything. Some of that is people upping sticks I get, but some is us not looking past the end of our noses. Oh and anyone personally abusing him is a proper knuckle dragger. Some of the chanting and swearing at him was moronic. I didn't particularly care for Struber or Asbaghi, but I didn't personally abuse them. I hope we win 5-0 on Saturday, like.
I thought someone might have tweeted or posted on instagram. To be honest I listened that interview & never even noticed him saying that. He seemed a nervous wreck
Agree about the chanting. The same ones abusing him on Saturday sat near me were also singing Bambo Diaby’s song. Pathetic. Completely agree about the hand Collins has been dealt as well. In the few games when we had De Gevigney, Pines & Earl together we were a lot better to watch too which suggested to me that if we had a defence with pace & height in it that we would’ve been more entertaining throughout the season.
When managers like duff and val jump ship asap. People get upset when we sack Collins who's football has been ***** all season. No loyalty in this game. You want loyalty get a dog.
If they had done it 8 weeks ago we would now ,at least be in the play offs, at the moment we have to pray
I have to say, it's been fascinating reading some of the comments across all the threads. People have been absolutely spitting feathers for weeks and wanted his head on a stick on Saturday evening. Now they're expressing disappointment at the Club's treatment of him and wishing him well. At least be consistent with the rage.
I like how the Collins out mob are now coming up with replacement suggestions for him, that are both ridiculous and impossible.
Hhmmm maybe Muller kid lol. And hey, you made a few really good points on your reply today, I liked that.
Give up.. how over dramatic can you get. Poor manager departs football club after his team churns out match after match of relegation form football. Yeah of course we are the laughing stock. Get a grip. They have done what exactly I called for and many others who want to see effort,.motivation and a hint of quality football. Collins style of boring predictable football against terrible opposition most weeks was making us the laughing stock if any anything. Well done board for being brave and at least trying something new!
