No. In my opinion, we can’t go quite as “gung ho” with the attacking play and attacking press because it would leave the defence so exposed. They get run ragged when there’s cover so god knows what it would be like.

This isn’t me saying the passing around the back 3 didn’t bore me to tears by the way. Just offering some thoughts about how much losing the defensive quality we did has hurt us.

The issue isn’t anything to do with their abilities on the ball.

It’s that they aren’t fast & aren’t good in the air which makes us vulnerable to set pieces & been ran at.

If you dominate possession you aren't having your weaknesses exposed.

The problem is as we know it can be tedious to watch & I think more sides are realising what deficiencies we have and are taking advantage of it.

I disagree but that's life. I personally think that MDG and Lopata to name just two are far better players than they were made to look under Collins

11 then. I just picked the 2 most recent ones. And didn't go beyond it

If I've failed to pick up on the third, I've missed it

I feel like once MDG stops making daft errors, he will be a good player for us.

I said at the time I didn’t want Lopata to leave on loan but I guess he wanted to try and get minutes elsewhere. I didn’t mind him, he’s just painfully slow.

Whoever is in charge next season needs to make us solid at the back again. A back 3 (if we are still playing that) of Pines, MDG and Earl should hopefully be able to cope in this division.

No that's not right...Cole,Kane and Phillips have scored the same or more under Collins...Watters is a waste of space...but Duff had Norwood to rely on....Cadden and Williams have had to become defenders to compensate for the loss of good defenders and the dross defence we signed in the summer.

Lopata was non league before he came to us, his whole experience of League football is 19 games including BFC and his loan at Vale...how you can say he looks a far better player on that evidence I'm not sure.
MDG...I think he's decent if he can cut out the unforced errors.

Because Lopata looked decent when he first played for us

He looked as slow as a cart horse...he's not even getting much football at Vale.

    Defo need a new keeper.
    RWB O’Keeffe
CB MDG / Pines / Earl
    LWB Styles
    DM Connell
    Mids Benson / Phillips
    Forwards Cosgrove / Jalo

That’s a bloody good league 1 team on paper. Obviously we’d need bodies. I accept Pines, Connell and Benson might well be made of weetabix.

I also think Russell and Lofthouse are better than many on here would have you believe. Plus the likes of Bland / Vimal / James from the academy should be around the first team if they’re as good as we think they are.

Although we’re not getting fees we’re losing a decent chunk of wage bill. Sensible recruitment (3 proven good uns rather than 10 punts maybe), a couple of loans.

Loads of best case scenarios and rose tinted glasses possibly but I don’t think we’re a lost cause if we get a decent head coach and the new DOF uses a bit more common sense than KEA, Conway etc.

That front line has scored one more goal in one less game under Negative Neil than Dashing Duff.

Despite Watters playing over Norwood, which is a huge downgrade.

You've also overlooked the playing of Williams at RCB not RWB, because the board did not properly replace the outgoing defence and didn't give Collins an adequate replacement.

I know you'll say that Williams has been rhubarb at CB which is partly true - but he's still been better than the Kitchen Fitter who Khaled recruited to play there.

Macatee has played over Norwood which is a upgrade.

Has Watters played over Norwood? I thought both were here last year. In reality hasn't Mcatee played over Norwood?

There's no kitchen fitter recruited to play right cb is there? i thought that was MDG who was getting man of the match reviews for a while.

League one is much much worse this season than last. That is a point that anyone with a pair of eyes cannot argue with. The only people arguing with it are those refusing to acknowledge what their own eyes are seeing and instead focusing on numbers

Firstly, you've put Watters in the team - not me. I was just quoting your post.

Secondly, if MDG was recruited to play RCB, then why has he played all season next to Williams - who has played RCB.

Thirdly, the league may he weaker. Or it may not be, its subjective. Numbers do not lie over the course of a sample size of a full season. The one thing that doesn't lie is numbers and stats. They are objective. Opinions such as the strength of the division are objective.

If I accept your point that the league is weaker, do you not agree that in turn we are weaker too? Particularly defensively. Three out of last seasons League One 4th placed side have just played in an FA Cup semi final, whilst performing with credit in the league above. And the keeper often found himself on the bench. Our other CB and captain now plays in the Premier League - and was a starter until his injury.

The player Collins wanted to recruit didn't arrive until January, he looked immense in a number of appearances whilst we had some excellent results, before his season ended. Connell missed the first third of the season due to ilillness. Roberts suffered a finger injury and missed a number of matches.

As I've stated previously, I don't think Collins is the best manager in our history - far from it. Just that considering he's hamstrung by recruitment, he's done a pretty good job to have us in the League Position that we're currently in.

Agree with pretty much everything you've said but I think that should be subjective not objective

Still going with the crazy theories that most of the league is weaker
