When he plays you don't notice what he does but when he doesn't you notice what everyone else doesn't do.
He’ll be starting tomorrow for me. Underrated and gets criticism for first impressions when we played him unfit.
He missed that chance at back post v Cheltenham and was subbed straight after. It was a bad miss but we didn't fathom out another guilt edged chance after he went off. He definitely offers sumat.
If we used him right he'd be an asset. Far too often we allow the opponent to isolate and attack him directly at which point his lack of mobility becomes a big issue. He's no world beater but he's got the ability to be solid at this level and usable at Championship level.
He's very decent on the ball, he's got a great first touch most of the time. The problem is his defensive nous - the amount of players who just run past him without any pressure from him is a problem when he's sat in front of the defence
To be fair to Collins, he did eventually achieve what I never thought humanly possible. He somehow managed to slow our play down to such an eye-bleedingly bad level, that by the end Jon Russell started to look like one of our better players. Kudos for that.
Jon Russel is a good player, was instrumental in Towns play off campaign in the championship. He could be a valued asset here if we play him, but get off his back.
Russell’s biggest problem is that he only seems to play well away from Oakwell. He’s put some brilliant performances in on the road. I thought he was superb at Oxford.
