Nice idea but always likely to fail given the number of utter numbskulls that attend our games. They have no sense of normal behaviour. Not one jot. Things like this make me wonder why I keep going to Oakwell. I was one of the many on my way out of the ground soon after the final whistle. No desire to watch these idiots having their “bit of fun”.
Grown men knee sliding when we have a game on the pitch week after.. letting flares off like we had won something.. a few villages missing their idiots this lunchtime. I ****** off as soon as the whistle went checking the Lincoln game and feeling abit meh but **** me we have some idiots who follow us.
You're right buddy. Poor from the club not to make it clear. It was inferred back when the voting opened, but yeah. No excuse for poor comms since then. https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2024/april/end-of-season-awards/
I wasn't in the ground when people came on to the pitch, but based on the few Twitter clips I've seen, the average age of those on the pitch looked about 11. I have shoes older than some of em.
Just adds to everything else doesn't it. Silence all game in the ESL concourse so you wouldn't hear any music or announcements. TV still off down there five months later. Even Toby Tyke hasn't been arsed to walk around the pitch pre game for ages.
Didn't hear the announcement for the teams coming out for the second half in the Ponte concourse. Queued up for almost the entirety of half time to find out that there was nothing left to be bought (rumours that they found some bottles of Carling after we left). Toby Tyke stands in front of the Ponte near the East Stand and relies on his handler telling him how to interact with the fans.
So a minority of idiot fans prevented the player of the season award (which the same people complaining about would probably be giving “how does anyone deserve it etc”) from being announced. And it’s the clubs fault. Sure. I know the rebuttal is “they knew what the idiots were going to do”. But why should they beholden to them?
Wrong. If the club had done it prior to the match like every other year there wouldn't have been a a presentation spoiled. I went in about 11. 45 to watch the presentations. How wrong I was.
If you were willing to arrive early to see the presentation I would assume you would have stayed to watch after. The issue was caused by the idiots who ran onto the field. Club should be able to announce player of the year before or after. I get in the past it had been before but the fact it couldn’t the after was not the fault of the club.
I may have done but as I'm not psychic I had no idea it was to be presented before, during or after (still not sure) the lap of honour at some point after the match ended
I agree they should have announced it would be after the game. Maybe that would have been a deterrent to the idiots but then probably not anyway.
Fighting a losing battle here. Someone from the club have said it was planned for after the game but never actually communicated. You can’t blame fans for that.
No, I couldn't stop after. For years now these presentations have been prior to the match and there was nothing from the club suggesting diferrent.
I agree the club should have communicated that it was after. At least then you would have known that you would have missed it.
It’s obviously those who ran on’s fault but it was a bit naive to think it could be done after the match when it happens every season and was entirely predictable.
I just don’t see any reasoning why they would do it after the game. If we had dropped out of the playoffs there would have been zero people in the ground to announce it to. It’s always been during the warm up and there was 0 communication to say otherwise.
