Well Cadden has been stood waiting for the ball for at least half of that match. It's the tactics on the pitch, not the formation that is causing the problems, in my opinon. Worth remembering that we got promoted to the premier league and played "like brazil" in a 3-5-2.
Oh I agree that 3-5-2 can and does work with the correct players but the key to it is having a strong back three who can be trusted to do the job of four. When. You have a poor and inexperienced back three who can't then it's suicidal defensively
Nicky Eaden was probably the best wingback the clubs ever had, could defend, attack the whole package Corey Okeefe was signed from the worst defence in L1. It's like saying your driving a Bentley with Dacha parts on it, the system completely breaks down
Been watching the promotion highlights today. Two things struck me. Firstly, we had Bullock and/or Marcelle running directly at defenders down the middle of the park, causing havoc. Secondly, so many goals came from shots outside the box. Other than Williams’ goal the other week, and Phillips’ against Derby, I’m struggling to remember any others this season.
You reap what you sow, our next head coach will be there to basically put the cones out and be the fall guy
We've employed a psychologist to instruct qualified football coaches how to coach the players. I might get a pastry chef into our place to tell our developers how to program the software.
I'd even forgotten about Barnard, crikey and Neil Thompson in our promotion season could deliver service on a six pence for Wilkinson and had an absolute hammer shot
I've absolutely no problem with the club using data etc and having a DOF as a bridge between coaching staff and board level with his remit on recruitment in and out and contracts etc, but to have this ****** up ideological system like the Red Bull clubs with a L1 club with out a pot to **** in is a disaster waiting to happen where a DOF is implementing a playing model throughout the club with players recruited from 3rd tier at best but mainly below, well its absolutely mental.
So they give the DOF a responsibility for how we play on the field? What was the date of his appointment and what have been the results since? Not a big fan of Collins, but no wonder we dropped off. Was he consulted when the contract was drawn up? If the DOF knows so much about football, better let him pick the team for Friday. All a DOF is, is a cushion between the board and the fans. Somebody to sack when it all goes wrong.
I think people are over thinking this issue too much.Theres no way on earth the board will tell the manager who to play how to play who the subs are when to put them on etc etc. They may want to create an ethos of possibly playing an aggressive attacking style which the fans like and theres nothing wrong with that. Its a bit like Liverpool the board won't interfere on the playing side but they obviously want somebody whos got the work ethic of Klopp and his teams.
I might be reading this wrong but I took it as the director of football or whatever he is would speak to the manager at the time and what the manager wanted he would then instruct the academy to play the same way? I don't think that will ever work but Its what I thought the idea was
Id go for Trippier. One of the best ever crossers of the ball. In english football ever. Quality player. But the others mentioned were great footballers as well.
Redders scored a fair few of his goals through Bullock running at opposition defences centrally, they'd **** themselves backing off then Bullock would get 20-25 yards out from the goal then lay off to Redders, tha can guess the rest...........sithi.
