Duff in on the basis of him being given the playoffs on a short term contract? available and knows the club. Duff knows a lot of the players and they know him. given Saturday’s performance it seems very obvious that we will be no worse off with Duff in charge on a temporary basis. I don’t really see any counter argument. I’m so angry about how the last week has unfolded. I find it’s very concerning that the board could even contemplate sacking the first team coach with no replacement sorted on the eve of the playoffs. Let’s be honest it’s an absolute shambles. Kicked out of the FA cup and this in one season. Embarrassing.
Would it though? 3 games ? Bonus if we go up? If the cost wouldn’t be a major concern imho. There’s about £7m quid riding on these next 3 games. Let that sink in! An omnishambles!
I liked duff and would be the only ex manager I'd welcome back. The problem is with appointing ex managers like we saw when Wilson came back, it would be the same if stendel, hecky or duff came back. There held in high regard and if they come back and fail like they all have since in some fans eyes they can do no wrong it wouldn't be their fault. The spreadsheet, the board, players, kit man, girls in the ticket office would all get blamed before the likes of duff or hecky.
Would Duff be prepared to take us on for 2 or 3 games though? Maybe he would if there was a contract for next season if he was successful.
Absolutely, unless he’s subject to restrictions having left Swansea. let’s say a £500k bonus for getting us promoted anyone would agree to that
So getting to the playoffs but failing to win promotion by Duff is seen as a success , with a better squad , but this season is abject failure according to some !!!!!
I reckon the solution to the problem was probably not to sack the bloke who had led us to the playoffs. Then, depending on what happened we could have made a decision. If we don't go up, we could have got rid as he would have failed in his remit. This is just daft.
They will appoint someone long term before Friday I think. The jobs more of a attractive job with 3 games away from the championship as opposed to league one skint and no kane Cole Williams or cadden.
I’m not sure how you can deduce that from my post. And btw I half agree with your sentiment - the think Collins has done well to amass so many points with the hand he was dealt. Seemingly it’s his paymasters who considered him an abject failure, not me.
That’s too late though. If they were going to do this, a new man should have been in the day after. which begs the question, why not ?
I'm guessing because we couldn't get a work permit for Jack hammer.. strong rumours wellens was at oakwell yesterday.
I wanted Collins gone, and it was 100% the right decision to do so. However, they should've already had someone in in all but signature. This tells me that they didn't sack Collins because the form was terrible and so was the "football", but sacked him as a knee-jerk to the fan reaction and the slow ST sales. That not only makes the board inept, but fair weather too.
