I’ve been reading but not joining in with the messages all week as the lack of any positivity has really astounded me. I’ve never felt so disaffected but not from the club or the team - it’s been the lack of support (with notable exceptions) that as a collective force the fans feel unable to give to The Reds. For god ‘s sake we’re in the play-offs with a chance of being promoted! Can’t everyone save all the negativity until the season is over and try to give some support? Everything that is being posted on here will be read by the players and staff - do we really think that they won’t be affected by the huge lack of support directed towards them? I despair! Feel free to have a go at me because at least you’re not then directing it at the team/club.
Word is that tickets for the home leg are selling poorly. Like it or not I think folk really don’t give us much chance and they’re probably going to watch at home. I’m not confident one bit but agree that we at least ought to give it all we’ve got on Friday and see where it takes us. Stranger things have happened…..
I’ll be there giving it my all on Friday night. however I’ll voice my concern about the shambolic (and unnecessary) self inflicted harm that has unfolded over the last 10 days that are more likely to adversely impact the team than any of my ramblings on the internet would.
Need a couple of dirty scruffy wins to get through, we won't out football them that's for sure, stifle them and let them beat themselves would be my tactics, 541 stop the likes of maghoma and Dempsey supplying ammunition, they put a bullseye on Cadden last time, everything went down that side
Yeah I'd like to agree with that, normally. But even in that game at Portsmouth, we conceded 3 more goals again, despite playing better than them for about 70 minutes. So does that mean we need to score 6 in the two legs, to beat Bolton. And then if we get there, do we need to score 4 at Wembley against whoever, in the Final.
Thanks for the post. Good to hear views from people who don’t get dragged into things so much. Few thoughts from me. Many would probably put me in the rose tinted camp if anything, so it’s not like I’m one of the anti-club posters. I think you’re seeing a reflection of how things have gone both on and off the pitch. Yes we’re in the play offs, but I don’t think anyone can say we’ve done it with style and grace. It reminds me of that last 200 yards from Derek Redmond, agonisingly dragging himself over the line. It’s been bad enough for the Club to take such drastic action and sack the manager with a game to go. Such has been the lack of confidence. So it’s clearly not just the fans that aren’t happy. Then the manager situation. I don’t know how true any of it is, but if the rumours are true re. Hammer, it’s really quite farcical and just adds more insult to injury. Remember though, this is all pre match. That’s what this place is for. I’m sure come Friday, everyone will be 100% behind the team. Just one more thing though, regarding players reading posts, because I feel strongly about this. This is a fans forum. By the fans, for the fans. Quite frankly it’s not for the players. The only way they would ever see this content is by searching for it. If they’re actually doing that, then getting upset by what they read, that’s completely on them really. If a player is hoping to come on here right now and expect to see a mass of enthusiasm about our current situation, they’re on another planet. I imagine players have their own private groups where they have their say amongst them. And that’s fair dos as well. Obviously the caveat is that comments about players on here should never get personal or abusive.
Yeah, I'll rephrase that,,, play like we did against Portsmouth, but without the defensive errors! Here's hoping
Well said young man. I genuinely think that those posting negativity actually enjoy wallowing in the doom and gloom.
I entirely disagree. I’m very positive usually but we are seeing is self inflicted harm. I think that needs discussing, and challenging.
To be fair, there are plenty on here who'd find something to moan about if they returned to their hotel room to find Margot Robbie naked in their bed. Especially if Ms. Robbie's presence was in some way connected with Barnsley Football Club. But when more measured posters start to express their concern, that is a serious sign that something, somewhere, has gone very badly wrong.
Imagine being that much of a fanny you won't spend 20 quid to watch a play off game because you think we'll probably lose it. Softest fan base in Britain
