I presume he came for talks and didn't like what we offered him. Control over transfers, transfer budget, his wages, backroom team. Any of these, either alone or as a combination, could have been a sticking point.
Do we know he came for talks? If so it's pretty poor if we can't sell the club as a better option than Leyton Orient.
Not surprising though is it? It’s how far we’ve fallen & with respect to Orient they are a better proposition than us right now, even if we are in the play offs. That’s on the owners absolutely lacklustre way of running a club.
Alan Nixon in his most recent Thalhammer article told us all we were interested in Wellens. Doug O Kane said he expected Disco in charge Friday. It seems a Luca post on the BBS was taken as gospel.
If Wellens has signed a new contract I would imagine he wouldn't have had time to negotiate with another club. Seems more likely to be rubbish like most rumours.
Wellens probably had a brief chat with the DOF, looked at our model and what we've got to offer and then walked out laughing at how amateurish we are! Ah well...On to the next one. I heard Mike Bassett is available...
Do you not think he could’ve used us a bit of a bargaining chip for his contract? Or maybe his agent has done that. I guess we’ll never know.
I thought it was Mike Williamson who Nixon mentioned as our next choice? Can’t imagine there’s much movement on that front while MK are about to start a play off campaign.
Heard he was definitely at the ground earlier this week. Imagine he doesn't like the way we operate and has decided to stay put and use us to get a nice new contract.
Thing is we've "heard " a lot this week and the majority as been rubbish. The other thing about "how we operate" is just a throwaway comment overused with no foundation.
