Slightly odd thing to post ….

 

Scroll across - there's a second photo of an article saying it fell through due to work permit issues.

 

Given his propensity to post loads of details on social media and his, alleged, willingness to discuss confidential negotiations with random fans who friend him on Facebook, I'm starting to think that the club should perhaps have done a bit more due diligence on their 1st choice managerial target.

 

I think there's a role for a compliance & due diligence manager at the club, seems to be a loophole in knowledge/ coverage. I'm not doing it for their usual minimum wage tho.

 

I'm starting to wonder if he's even real. Could be the Ali Dia of football management. "Jürgen Klopp's grandmother's cousin's wife's sister's son."

Compliance Officer = doing all the **** that no-one else wants to do and being blamed for anything that goes wrong.

Being considered for the Barnsley job and not getting it is summat I'd want to keep VERY quiet about if I was looking for another job...

 

What if he was considered for the director of football role, not the manager and we are all just making assumptions?

 

Good point. His experience in the women's game would have benefitted the women's team too. Dual purpose role maybe?

 

If 'contracts were signed' as stated, then it looks like the club had been involved in negotiations on this for some time before the official announcement. I wonder how far back they commenced work on this.

Regardless of anyone's views on Collins' abilities, it doesn't show the club in a good light to see that you're conducting detailed negotiations while the incumbent is still in place, particularly when the source of that information is the person you were negotiating with via a press article he's shared.

I'm all for the club having contingency plans in place so that there's a rolling shortlist of targets in mind at any point in time, but as we learn more about what's gone on behind the scenes I'm finding the approach we appear to have adopted more and more questionable, both in who we've identified to replace him and the way we've gone about trying to recruit them.

I'm comfortable with the decision being taken to move on from Collins, based on what I perceived of his abilities to carry out the role. However, there's no doubt that he was a diligent, hard-working coach and seemed to be a likeable guy, so the way we've gone about making the change (and failing to do so, so far) falls below the standards I'd expect from the club I support.

Ultimately, there needs to be a post-mortem on this when the dust has finally settled on the season and the replacement Head Coach. I'm not sure I'm going to like the answers, but I think it's become fairly obvious that some difficult questions need to be asked of those in charge.

 

He's made us look like a right set of soapy titwanks and no mistake.

No we have. Not done our due diligence. Yet they want people to invest in season tickets for us to still going round looking like a bunch of clowns.
