Absolutely boggles my mind that these two died on the same day, only nine years apart in age. Seems like they and their work come from two completely different eras - their respective glory days were maybe 30 or so years apart? Guess I'll be celebrating tonight by reading some postmodern literature and listening to rock and roll!
Also Dickie Betts from The Allman Brothers Band died earlier in the Month , wrote Jessica and Ramblin Man
One of my favourite writers. Love both of them - just found it really odd that their lives overlapped so much, given that they feel to me like they're from completely different generations! Auster had his first novel published in 1987 and was probably at his peak of popularity in the mid-'90s, whereas Eddy was a household name a good 30 or 40 years earlier.
