Hardly surprising, but not a single mention of tonight’s game on either the main sport page, or even the football page. The coverage of league football, is absolutely pathetic.
Football starts and ends at the Premier league. Best league in the world they tell us. The very same one from which all clubs were out before the semis of the main European competitions. The one club in the lesser competition also now looks like going out. Oh dear…..
Also on the radio can’t remember what station it was but listening earlier and it said Bolton take a 3-1 lead to barnsley in the second leg of the play offs tonight!
Sky have been saying “the weekend starts on Saturday with games in the Championship deciding who goes up and down.” Not a mention of our game.
You only have to listen to 5live and Talksport to get an idea of how bad it is. Many callers don’t attend games or originate from the area of their ‘chosen’ club. No one questions that as they don’t want to rock the boat, so it’s becoming accepted as the norm. When people find it acceptable for small clubs to throw money at getting to the Prem, then it erodes respect for the lower leagues even further
