Oh we can moan. 1 goal offside another the goalie gets pushed into his own net.

 

Thrown that away. A poor performance but the goal gave us hope and we probably should have been level. That being said, the last 15 minutes was good and it would have given us confidence going into the second leg but that third goal was an absolute hammer blow and just pathetic defending all round.

 

At least we know what we have to do in the second leg

Grant and Coagrove did their best to lift Barnsley back into it but overall another poor home display. Defensive errors that have marred the whole season.

 

Thought general play was good, but it seems the team needs to be behind to have some urgency and begin to look like playing. But again, you cant win games with defensive clangers. Poor from Williams and nobody on the far post for the third.

Shame as even at 1-2 behind I felt we'd have a decent chance in the 2nd leg. Bit of a mountain to climb now.

Philips was excellent especially when pushed further up field which for me probably came too late.

 

At 1-2 you've spawned a result when you've been 5hit and have sumat to build on. In stoppage time you take your medicine and stay in the game. Thrown it away the bunch of w@nkers.

 

tiniest marginal offside that in days past we would have said hes inline so hes on, and if you're a keeper you need to be aggressive and command you're area, if you thing reason we lost tonight is because of the officials you need to take ya blinkers off

 

Nah, goal was fine. We have to have a defender there protecting the keeper. It's so basic we do it at the **** level I play at. Only ourselves to blame, like the second goal

2 of only 3 players who can hold their head high after tonight. Grant plays like he wants to be here, I don’t see that from any of the others.

Roberts was on the front post, the ball went in at the back post. You want to blame someone, what was Earl doing stood 3 yards off the back post watching it whistle past him. Basics of defending a corner, we don't do it. No point being in denial, we blew it.

 

Does that matter?

 

In regards the "foul" on Roberts, I think Roberts was too soft. He's realised he's not getting anywhere near and then jumped back into the goal. That said, why is no one attacking the ball? Why is no one on the back post? No urgency, no fight. The lad they had at the back, Santos - average footballer, well, pretty poor footballer but he was fighting and attacking every single ball that came on his radar. Our defence looks shaky and scared everytime the ball comes anywhere near them.

 

Imho...I was hoping we could have kept it at 2..1.
We get a goal out of the blue without ever having a shot or troubling their keeper for 75 mins...and suddenly we realise they ain't all that.
Tbf they totally deserved their win and were better than us...the third maybe I've been watching too much other footy as that really is a foul..
.that said its awful defending and I do think the scoreline more than reflects their dominance....which they deserve.
I could moan about strange reffing decisions and their dark arts but they totally deserve a 3...1....our defending and tactics just terrible.

 

Couldn't blame Roberts for either 2 or 3...Williams fault 100% for 2 and 3 was a blatant foul on him.

 

Williams imho had his worse game all season tonight

I didn't get that impression to be fair. There was no lack of effort from anyone. Good goal from Cosgrove but does he always fall over so much?
