Think a few are blinded about Connell. His illness is probably the factor but he’s been bang average this season. Don’t see Championship clubs beating down the door to sign him.
I love Luca. But I don’t think he will get a move this summer. Needs a good full season after a proper pre season.
I’d be shocked if anyone’s daft enough to put a substantial bid in for him this summer given his health condition. Only player I could see fetching a decent fee is Phillips.
Tbh seeing this talk about Connell and same thing was said last year after our playoffs, "Evatt in his ear oil, clapping fans etc" means nothing until it either happens or doesn't and with a long contract they'd have to offer decent coin for him, could say promotion will guarantee them more money but they have a significantly larger wage bill than us draining them of money, promotion bonuses for those that stay on etc would it even be feasible or smart business to drop a few million on Connell after a potential promotion.
This. I reckon any suitors will wait until Christmas to see how he's doing after a proper preseason. And they know the price won't go up, because it's us.
The us that got 5 million for Kitching. The us that didn't sell Cole in January despite all the "tinpot" brigade insisting he'd be gone for 10 Bob and a blackie's egg?
In hindsight we should have sold Cole. But if the club had they would have been hammered no ambition etc probably by the same fans hammering Cole week In week out, they can't win.
Doesn’t really matter what we sell players for. We invest the proceeds in players who are well below what’s required. With Cole take goals out if his game and there is absolutely nothing else on offer.
I'm sure teams like Lincoln and Blackpool would have liked Cole in their team, they might have even got in the playoffs.
Im not sure that's true he often works hard he was great at pressing last year under Duff. (By pressing I don't mean chasing the ball like a headless chicken) but we don't play with a press this season. He's got one less assist than macatee this season.
