Very consistent. In the sense that he was an excellent example of refereeing at this level. Dreadful.

Not the one for Philips. Lad went down like he'd been killed, recovered enough to tell the ref he'd been killed and his killer should be punished, ref books Philips and the deceased staged a Lazarus-like recovery....

Also missed the Santos foul on Cole when he basically manhandled him to the floor.
Should have booked the keeper early doors for time wasting.
And as for the 3rd “goal”, well let’s just say there were 2 clear fouls.
That said, if we’re relying on the ref, we’re stuffed

Terrible, terrible, inconsistency at its best. He let everyone know in the ground he wasn’t going to put up with time wasting by speaking to their keeper in the 1st 10 mins, yet allowed them to use every time wasting tactic under the Sun for the remainder of the game. Yellow cards weren’t a problem for our fouls, (Luca one was a complete joke) but they got away with almost every shithouse tactic tthey employed, which was many and often. Their 1st looked offside, but not seen it back yet, so will wait until I’ve seen footage. Their 3rd looked like a foul on Robert’s, but again will reserve judgement until I’ve seen it back. However, notwithstanding those 2 incidents , very poor ref a generous 1 from me

I usually defend match officials because it's a tough job but last night's was poor.

The push on Cosgrove was a yellow no more, but there was a dangerous tackle on Kane in first half he should have given a yellow for too.

    5.

I still don’t think Roberts was fouled and you can’t blame the ref if the first was a bit offside - not for the ref to judge whatsoever.

However he wasn’t on top of the time wasting from minute one, and was very inconsistent with his yellow cards I felt. Connell’s wasn’t even a foul.

I did think another ref might have sent Phillips off; it wasn’t a red but it was as bad or worse than Wembley.

Nobody mentioned the rugby tackle on Cosgrove which was one of the clearest penalties I've ever seen.

Edit, it might have been Cole...

Sorry but were you watching the same game as me, take it you don’t think the push on Cosgrove was a red either, perhaps he went down too easy. Good grief

The usual score from me, and he is lucky to get as high as 3. We all know what kind of team Evatt puts out and this was no different with niggly fouls going unpunished, blatant crowding of the ref for every decision and appalling time wasting from very early on. I desperately hope this kind of gamesmanship doesn’t get them promoted.

Weak in every aspect of his performance but, to be honest, this one was no worse than the procession of clowns that have gone before him. He’s obviously read the Referees Manual on how to deal with Sam Cosgrove. “Don’t give him a single decision, no matter how blatant the pulling or pushing is - particularly if it’s in the penalty area”. This statement is at the top of page one and he clearly memorised it.

It seems that pushing players out of the way at corners is now "allowed" by refs. It is foul play.

Yet anywhere else on the pitch it’s a foul. It’s nuts. There’s no point in having refs anymore in my eyes. Best thing we can do is develop AI technology and let that ref games. It should be more consistent than a human ref that’s for sure.

    No, I don’t.

It was a shove to the chest. No more. It doesn’t constitute violent conduct under the laws of the game. Never a red. Yellow was right.

    Good grief….

And when I said another ref would have redded Phillips, that doesn’t mean I think he should have been. Was a recognition that he got the decision right. He got their last goal right, it wasn’t a foul, Roberts has to be stronger in that position. Two or three key decisions he got right.

    He got others wrong. 5/10.

That is exactly the game I watched.

No different to the game when Cosgrove took the ball off the keeper and scored. Didn’t see anyone calling for a red card following that.
