I'd say it's been too late in the day to make any serious changes so I have sympathy for him in that respect. However, as I've said elsewhere these are players that were producing excellent results up to a few weeks back and now look completely flat. That's down to man management and motivation to fix and he seems to have been unable to make any difference at all.
Hes a kids coach at best. From what I remember when he was academy coach they wernt that good either. God knows why everyone loves him. Mediocre player living off 2 crosses
That's a but harsh. I completely disagree about the playing side. In terms of coaching, I'd love Martin to stay at the club in some capacity but he should be nowhere near the first team set up.
I was hoping he’d do a flitcroft job like when hill got fired , and change tactics but not much has he changed
Nah letting him off the hook anyone with direct influence would have tried something different not version 2.0 of the same. Failed once at interim coach and done it again more fool us if we allow it anymore.
Disgraceful post imo. I get we’re all unhappy with where we are right now but posts like this are poor. He was a great player and I’m pleased to have someone like him around the club. Do I think he’s head coach material? No, but a post like this is disrespectful.
I think there’s nothing in the tank, and that’s down to the players, but Tuesday is Devaneys last chance to get a tune out of them, he, they and we all know it. As I see it he can’t possibly start with the same formation. May as well swap a defender for a forward and throw the kitchen sink at them and try and get an early goal. Be brave and more direct.
Totally agree got to treat it almost like Sheff weds being 4-0 down after the first game last season. Unfortunately for us we are away and can’t keep a clean sheet so reckon we would need to score 4 or 5 goals to have a chance yet we don’t score many anymore either.
I remember him more for being part of Ritchies promotion squad. His goals and assists etc. Always positive and trying to be on the front foot.
Seen a couple of threads now basically saying none of this is Devaney fault. It’s like people have forgotten he was part of the coaching set up that got us into the play offs and touching distance for top 2 and part of the set up that resulted in the recent performances. Also interesting some have suggested Stead should have gone as well but not MD.
I'll be at the "Tough Sheet" on Tuesday, and I hope we don't correspond to the Mexican pronunciation. I don't believe it's a lost cause, but it's a "mountain to climb", but, hey, I'm a Barnsley fan......
Too many to quote but what has he actually done? IMO he was a poor player. Entitled to my opinion as everyone is but I dont see the fascination with him. Shouldn't be anywhere near the first team.
You're entitled to it, absolutely, and everyone else is entitled to tell you it was disrespectful. Jury's out on his managerial future, but as a player and subsequent work with the academy, your comments were, in most people's opinion, disrespectful.
You don’t play 185 times for a league one and championship club if you’re a poor player. 18 goals 15 assists. There is no ‘fascination’ with him, it’s just appreciation of a good solid player and servant to the club.
It would certainly be one of those fantastic nights for the memory bank wouldn’t it? Bit like Huddersfield in 06. I’m just not feeling it though. As positive as I usually am, I just don’t think we’re good enough.
