Rubbish.. just goes to show how gullible and easily impressed some on here are.

At Oakwell over the years we've never had an abundance of good strikers.. but we've always had good center halfs..
If you think MDG Lopata and Shepherd are any good then you can't have been watching football very long.. or maybe you're of the recruitment team responsible for the mess..

"Gullible and easily impressed" is just a slightly different way of saying "stupid and ill informed and clueless"

I think it's very harsh describing people as stupid, ill informed and clueless just because they have a different opinion on a footballer than yourself.

I can just ask you a question, what do think it takes to be good centre half?......

You were obviously watching a different Jack Shepherd to the one I saw.

Errr...lots of things. MDG can't do the whole 9 yards of it but he can display class with the ball, which I believe is what has caught the eye of the BBS voter.

How narrow is the vision that exalts the busyness of the ant above the singing of the grasshopper.

We've also had some terrible centre halfs during that period. We selectively remember the good ones.

That's how I feel. He's getting an easy time from the fanbase because he's a local lad. He made his debut three seasons ago. In that time he's been looked over by a shitload of managers here and out on loan who watch him train and have a good idea of if he's good enough. Not one even out on loan in non league has thought he was worthy of a run of starts. He's 21 now so should have reached that stage by now.

Players will only move on in three scenarios:
    1) Out of contract
    2) Offered a better contract elsewhere
    3) Contract paid up

Based on performances this year the likelihood of players getting better contract offers elsewhere is slim. So the only way of moving players on is when their contracts' expire or the club can offer financial incentives. I think we are going to be stuck with a number of the fringe players until their contracts expire.

Players who are out of contract this summer are:

    Jordan Williams
    Robbie Cundy
    Herbie Kane
    Matty Wolfe
    Nicky Cadden
    Devante Cole
    Aiden Marsh

Add to this the loanees returning to their parent clubs, Jamie McCart and John McAtee.

As usual another big summer of recruitment ahead, time for more new heroes...

I'm hoping this season will be the one where Jalo completes his breakthrough to 'first names on the team sheet' level & his confidence should build up more rapidly at Div 1 level.
I agree with the other posters that would extend Marsh's contract, but feel the strong bond between Jalo & Marsh adds more weight to the case.

Those out of contract will all leave, apart from maybe Marsh and Wolfe. Hopefully we sign Grant too.

We need a new LWB, another midfielder or two and some strikers. Ship out Shaw and Dallas however we can.

I really hope Josh Benson is fit and firing this season. He could be great in league 1, and like a new signing for us. Lofthouse and Lopata to come back too.

Get the manager right and we could have a lot to work with!

On the plus side we only have 4 players out of contract at the end of next season.

    Adam Hayton
    Donovan Pines
    Josh Benson
    Sam Cosgrove.

Pines and Cosgrove we have a year in our favour.

A bit of Khalil Gibran on a Wednesday morning can't be beaten. Well played, Sir.
