Guy has done nothing wrong. Hiding to nothing. Chucked in at deep end. He'll be sick as a parrot with result. Might be as proud as punch with some of the players' efforts last night.
Can't think of any more clichés at moment.

First game he's won as caretaker so congrats to him. Never easy to step in.

Credit to the Club, the town and the community. I'm glad he said he doesn't want it. He was very quick and very clear to say it though. I'd love to ask him why.

It is often said that people are promoted to their level of incomptence. A wise person knows when to stop.

The Peter Principle - your reward for doing well is promotion, so you keep getting promoted until you end up in a job you're not actually much good at.

Probably wants to keep working at the club for as long as possible and has no misplaced confidence in his own ability. I'm glad he doesn't want it and expect him to be the continuous link between our next couple of managers, unless we bring in someone who doesn't want him.

It certainly was! We actually kept a clean sheet 2nd half, mainly because we spent most of it attacking!

These days they usually keep someone on the baseline job (and pay) if they do it well, and give them more work. While they promote the p!sstakers to more cushy jobs so they don't have the responsibilities of Sandra in reception, who's usually the one who alone keeps the company running, on MW
