A Preston type signing for me. I’m not sure he’ll get his move to the Champ at the moment as I don’t think he’s been fit all season.
This is the only thing I've seen 'linking' Luca to Derby, and it's an opinion piece, not a transfer rumor. Basically someone saying Derby should look at Luca Connell. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/derby-county-barnsleys-luca-connell-in-tyrese-fornah-out/
Based on last season if I were buying him I'd wait until January just to see if injury has taken edge off him or he'd already peaked.
Disagree. This board so far have done exceptionally well with transfer fees. Think we will get plenty for him mate
Have they? Because every player we sell is undisclosed and when we sign non league players to replace them we're told it's because the fees we receive for players have been agreed in such a way that it's essentially useless in terms of being able to replace
We know the ticket price for this season was over £8m plus add-ons for Kitching, Anderson and Collins and the season before we sold Morris at his relegation clause £2m plus add-ons. This "undisclosed fee" conspiracy every one harps on about is just a symptom of modern football across the whole EFL not just us and is triggered by either club not wanting opponents to know what resources they have during the window.
We need to get out of this league.. look at Portsmouth, Sunderland etc stuck for years. Money is no good by itself.
Luca had (or maybe still has) the unfortunate illness, which has really ruined his season. Should we cash in on him now then, and replace him with a cheap punt kid from Frickley Fc.
Can't see anyone wanting him this summer. His form dipped severely last season and he needs to show he's over his injuries and illnesses long term.
I think he'll difinitely leave but its the age old question' will the board invest his transfer fee in an adequate replacenent or will they just roll the dice again? Its a big summer for the board this time' i think all our so called big names will go and who they're replaced with will show which direction the board want to go in.
He'd be a gamble for anyone taking him under the current circumstances, personally, I'd sell him if it was to a championship club.
But you've just said it yourself Helen - Portsmouth, Sunderland, Derby, Ipswich, Wednesday - and not forgetting Bolton still stuck with us - all bigger clubs with greater resources than us, who all found themselves "stuck in this league." It isn't just a Barnsley problem, whatever naysayers may think.
Not saying anything will happen this summer but I wonder what price we’d accept for him? He’s got a long contract and is a big player for us (I think he’ll be captain moving forward) so you’d like to think it would take something crazy.
Connell missed an entire pre season and more with a viral infection. It clearly affected his energy levels in matches and in my opinion he did well to play so many games in the end. With a better squad and a better backup than Russell, he would have undoubtedly been eased back to fitness through the season To consider selling him at less than we valued him last year because of a 'poor' season when he wasnt 100% fit and the team was a disorganised jigsaw is just daft.
