If its us or Huddersfield i'm sure he'll pick them over us, MONEY, he left us for money an i'm sure Terriers av got more than us ,an will offer him more,
Greedy? He has no ties to us, has a family he wants to provide for, if you had 2 employers vying for your services would you pick the one you already have a less than perfect experience with, or one who's gonna pay you double. Probably.
Definitely has a better chance of promotion with Huddersfield. At least we can put the Duff saga to bed now. The appointment needs to be one that brings the fans and club together, a good communicator is critical because quite simply communication from behind the scenes is non existent.
Logic. He may have been on our radar, but I doubt we were on his. Knows the constraints he'd be working under with us, knows the animosity over his departure last year from large sections of the fanbase, will know the squad will be vastly inferior to the one he had last time. Chuck in the fact he'll probably get double the money at Huddersfield, with a more hands-on role regarding signings and I think you have your answer. There's this weird assumption on here that after Collins, we'd just go out and take our pick from all the managers available. Duff, Hecky, Val, Warnock etc etc. I could go on. It's pipedream stuff; we're fishing in a different pond now. I'd say the likes of Williamson & McCann are at the top end of our realistic scale, but more likely it'll be the unknown foreigner, which is a gamble, but could come good. My money's on the fella at Barrow.
I would like to think we could have a chat with Alex Neil about the vacancy but I guess wages will be an issue.
Hecky spent more time at Oakwell this last season than he did at lane. If he loves us that much let us get him in, and please , board, back him
I agree with you that Huddersfield is a better option for him at 13 May 2024. However, what I’m suggesting is that we were 3 games from the championship only 2 weeks ago. Had we offered him the right money ,fairly sure he would have signed for us. Strong and decisive leadership was required, something that is apparently lacking. Something that HTAFC have shown by getting the deal done.
He was never coming back. He’d be coming back to a club with a far weaker defence than he had and with 6 first teamers departing with no revenue coming in for any of them. On top of that you’ve got a squad of around 20 players already on the books that he’s going to have to work with as the board isn’t going to want to or be able to pay up the contracts of players that haven’t worked out. Every signing will need to be a success for us to have any chance of the play offs. The leagues also going to be a lot tougher than it has been the past two seasons in my opinion. I expect all 3 relegated teams to challenge as well as at least Wrexham & Stockport from the promoted teams. Then there’s sides like Wigan & Charlton who I would expect to improve & Blackpool, Peterborough, Lincoln & one of Oxford & Bolton.
My moneys on Bowyer an Ainsworth, fancied Ainsworth when he was 28 / 1 has touched 18 /1 but now 33 /1 but i honestly think thats a no, no, now, we've had eight Manager fav's so far so if they keep dropping like they are, you never know, Gary Bowyer was the one i picked when Wellens signed, keeping mi fingers crossed
