I thought Daniel Stendel was a fine headcoach but unlike at the present time, inherited a much better squad than the present. I done think he would be able to get far with the present squad unless investment happens in the summer - - - - which we all know won't happen.
Honestly not sure how it works these days, rules say 1 thing but examples say otherwise. Prime example is Danny Rohl. Spent 2 years as Germany assistant coach never been a head coach but still got a permit. It could be argued Hannover II whilst playing lower down is still a reserve team and technically an extension of the 1st team so he could be technically considered an assistant head coach. He'd possibly qualify under band 4 ruling plus mitigating circumstance that he coached a UK based club (Hearts) in the past 5 years.
If we'd backed him. He'd have succeeded. Just need the Fonze too. Think he wasn't same without Winkler.
Well we sold Collins, Andersen a Well we sold Andersen, Kitchin and Collins and replaced with Lopata, Shepherd etc andlook what that did to our defence.Unless whoever comes in is given better players to work with then they are gonna face an uphill task. We are likely to lose Kane, Cole, Cadden and Williams and need to invest in replacements.
Would love him back. Conman did the dirty on him, but he's gone now. Hopefully Danny boy will want to come back
That's what I've been discussing with the lads at work this morning. Not had a head coach role for 3 years since he left Nancy and probably doesn't gain enough points by working as u 21 coach at a bundesleague 2 club
His record and his naive approach in the Championship, plus what he has done at other Clubs since, suggests to me he was just fortunate that he had the best squad of players in League 1. Like Duff however he did a fantastic job in connecting with the fanbase so understand why people would out of sentiment, want him back. So heart says yes but head says no......then again I do not trust this Board to make a good appointment. Collins was the wrong choice after over achieving with Duff who knew the league and how to win games at that level - the profile of the Club had risen and we had a great opportunity to kick on. But they recruited a rookie Head Coach, asked him to get into the play offs with a new defence and goalkeeper, then sacked him when he was on the brink of achieving the goal set. We will be in exactly the same position in 12 months time unless the Board do something different....but I suspect they won't
Not for me, he was found out in the Championship, a very stubborn manager who seemed tactically inept, we were terrible under him in the Championship shipping goals in at a high rate & he refused to change anything tactically. He was blessed with a talented squad in league 1, even I could have got that team promoted.
Stendel's last 11 games for club. another that had no plan B. Nice bloke but anyone could have got promoted with that team he had. No Thanks ! Why do fans always look backwards!
Head says no for me. Got found out in the Championship and subsequently got the sack. Sacked at Hearts and also at AS Nancy.
I agree strongly with what you say. I was at Preston, when we shipped 5 goals and were absolutely wide open - the match which precipitated his sacking. Not only did Stendel inherit an excellent League One squad, but he displayed great enthusiasm, had an attractive personality and, with his regular appearances at The Garrison, seemed like "one of the lads". I don't think he would succeed again in League One, with the squad we have now. Mind you, I am not sure who would.
