The spectrum of comment is broad and spans praise to abuse. In between are varying degrees of criticism, and moaning. It is difficult to draw the line as to where what is wrong without appearing to be 'Holier than thou' (sanctimonious). Perhaps there is an argument for a moderator ? But then there would be criticism and moaning about the moderator.

 

Bring back the STFU button.....

 

It's all about delivery and balance, there's loads of stuff this new board have got right but equally there's stuff that they've got wrong.
They aren't immune from constructive criticism but like any organisation they aren't robots either and mistakes will always be made, it's how we learn from those and improve as club and a brand.
What I do draw the line at and would never engage in is personal abuse to other members opionions either because they differ from mine and neither would I ever participate or engage in abuse of BFC players or staff.
Some of the stuff aimed at Julie Anne and Khaled prior, was and is disgusting, these are people at the end of the day and whilst I may differ at times in my opinion on the course we take, they are in the role to make the best decisions for the Club and only time will tell whether these are successful or not, but it doesn't give people licence to hurl abuse.

 

Or even a dislike button. At least then certain comments get an indicator of agree v disagree

 

So you say that, then have a rant with the words 'inexcusable incompetence' in the final line about the club.

Why be so critical when it was the correct decision?

 

My suggestion was tongue in cheek, however, your idea is excellent. Should any mods be reading, any chance of this happening?

 

I think we could only categorically call it as the "correct decision" if we were planning a trip to London this weekend.

Maybe a change was needed, but the timing and subsequent farce in failing to appoint a successor were absolutely embarrassing for a professional football of our standing.

 

I can say in hindsight say we wouldn't have lost the first leg 1-3 under Collins. The game would certainly have been a bore and since our away record was decent we might have gone through.

Then again you can say had we not ditched him before the Northampton game we might not have made the Play-Offs or beaten Northampton handsomely and finished 5th instead of 6th.

Without a time machine we will never know.

 

That Northampton game probably hurt us most because, theoretically, we should have swept them away 2 or 3-0. Instead we decided to cling on to a 1-0 scraped victory and paid for it. Three points there and we would have had the chance to beat Peterborough in the semi final (probably I would say) and then look forward to another Wembley trip. It would have been similar to last May, I know, but this time we might just have come out on top.

All ifs and maybes. Time to regroup and do it all again next season

 

Looking forward to it. I still think we have a decent team without the players that will depart. Even before additions. I believe the contract situation was the route cause that buggered us up last season.

Grant could have had more of a crack, as could Cosgrove but it's gone now. Onwards and upwards.

 

In hindsight under Collins we would have been 5 nil down from the first leg, still tapping it back and sideways, losing the ball in leading to even more soft goals.

It was definitely worth the roll of the dice to part company.

Now it's just important to build a more positive team including the manager

 

I recently posted on a thread similar to this that I feel I, like many, sit between Happy clapper and Doom and gloomer.. I said all season we'd make the play off's. I supported the condemnation of people booing and singing at the Manager. I commented on the brilliant job the lads and lasses in the ticket office etc do.. even today I've said I can't be ars*d with the Premier league and would rather go into town av a beer then to Oakwell....
but I've also criticised the board for various stuff including Mr Warhammer, Too many punts on crap players plus stuff like Shirt sales, West stand etc..Yes there are posters who jump on the wording of posts when the intent is obvious and ya do wonder if some are wendys. On the whole this is a much better balanced forum than most .

 

Well said. I've been contemplating posting similar over the last few weeks.
I actually virtually stopped posting for about a month recently because I'd got so sick of it. As you say, it's every single thing be it founded in fact or fantasy that they turn against the club. This is the place that gives me a connection to a club I can now rarely visit but these few are sucking the joy out of the place.

 

So far, I have tried hard to avoid this option. I want to hear opposing views, but as many have stated, it gets extremely draining when the same posse of posters keep spouting such constant negativity.

 

Some of this goes back to the difficult balancing act when signing players.
We used to go for short 2-year contracts. If the player was good, we usually lost them too soon, but if the player was bad, we got them off the payroll quickly.
We now go for the 3-4 year contracts (which I prefer). If the player is good, we can keep hold of them longer (and we have done recently), or sell them for a good whack (happening more often recently), but if the player is bad, we're saddled with them on the payroll for a long time.
It is as much an Art (Manager & Recruitment team input), as a Science (The Spreadsheet!!!)

 

Very draining when we scored a goal or won a game and the same people came out slagging off fans rather than celebrating a result.
