People can't be forced to share the same views, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. That may be so called happy clapping or constant criticism. So be it. It's not just BFC related, it's every discussion. But it's quite simple. If you don't want to read someone's views, you just skim over the post and look at the next reply. All's good.
Yes there are a few but the vast majority have a balanced view of praise and grumble..I think someone got it right earlier in this thread when they said sadly the club have given the doomers summat to moan about lately but as we all kno if we win 8 and draw 2 of the 1st 10 games next season it'll be gravy all round. That's why ya should always keep ya link to the club cos ya kno what football is like..
Agree with comments that everyone is entitled to a moan but constant moaning is draining. If something made me that unhappy I just wouldn't bother with it - same on FB - some only come out when things aren't going well.
Whatever happens down Oakwell I predict the manager will not be good enough for our fans and any players signed will be crap before they kick a ball for Barnsley FC…..it’s the Barnsley way
I came off FB and Twitter for that reason. Too many keyboard warriors with not a kind word to say about anyone. There's a sense of "Entitlement " amongst some Barnsley fans. Premier League, 4 play off finals, 4 promotions another 2 play off semis, an FA Cup semi final, a FL trophy win all in the last 20 odd years is so much more than what we had in the previous 20 odd years. My dad watched Barnsley for 50 odd years and never saw us play at Wembley but it didn't stop him going to Oakwell and supporting the team. 2 successive play offs used to be regarded as success but now its deemed failure amongst some fans. I absolutely hate the aggressive vitriol against JAQ who appears to be a positive role model. Social Media has a lot to answer for
I'm admin on a FB page and the difference in traffic between when we win and lose is incredible - same ones sitting at home waiting for a goal to go in so they can post something negative. Again it's their right BUT it can get monotonous
My granddad used to say, "If you haven't got anything nice to say, dunt say owt ". Something these warriors ought to pay heed of occasionally. There's a way of showing displeasure or disagreement without needing to resort to name calling .
All views welcome IMO, whatever the slant. Just scroll past the people that bore you. I expect hardly anyone will read this post as they scroll on by.
It only worked both ways because it was so exhausting telling "fans" that a game of football lasted 90 minutes and that sometimes goals were conceded. Every. Single. Time. So in the end plenty of us thought "fck it". I know I did. I took great pleasure in our 18 game unbeaten streak where dickheads like Scott disappeared for weeks on end - I admit it.
We all took pleasure in winning games. I took zero pleasure in the manner and lack of entertainment but it was exhausting being insulted and belittled constantly by a large number of people. And I completely get what you're saying but in the same way that Scott appearing and gloating when we lost it was just as tedious and toxic the way many would come on and instead of posting about a great result would be solely giving a **** about posting how bad other fans are and how the *insert random belittling name* would be crying because we'd won.
But that was just a reaction to the negativity. It was so tiresome. Remember when we smashed Port Vale 7-0, then for the first 2 months we had to listen to "take out the 7-0 and we've only scored 8 goals in 6 games". It drove level headed fans insane. I count myself as pretty patient when it comes to football (other stuff less so), and it just got to the stage when I actually wanted us to win just so I didn't have to read pages of bile - rather than enjoying the actual result. That can't be good. And that coupled with the vile abuse of the manager and players at games drove me so far. It's a shame really, but it is what it is.
I agree, it becoming very wearing when some people seem to revel in it when we concede or lose. I’ve seen some do it regularly then talk about poor mental health. For some, it feels like an obsession to be negative- opinions are one thing but the constant negativity can (& does) bring others down.
This is an interesting thread actually, but its a shame about the tin potters. Err no it's not, it's the Happy clappers who ruin it. Ohh shut up, you haven't got a clue. Yeah whatever, and you should stop talking to and arguing with yourself!!.
Fair point...But. We score, we win. What are you most likely to post a thread about? a) The game. b) The TVs not switched on in concourse.
