Speculation before a deal is done will always happen but if it doesn't materialise then that doesn't mean there wasn't any truth in it. I genuinely think some folk dwell on it too much.

Exactly, it’s always done and usually gets the same kind of replies. Bit harsh accusing people of being ‘twisted’. I haven’t seen anything nasty or abusive to suggest that, just the normal stuff.

The vast majority of our signings come out of the blue. When there’s loads of speculation it almost always never happens.

He is doing his badges. Been coaching our u16s and Villa u16s for a little while apparently as part of his coaching courses.

Unpopular opinion I accept but why are people getting excited that 33yrs old midfielder who's legs have gone with zero senior coaching experience maybe coming back to play football and do some coaching. I fully accept he was a great player 7yrs since and he's a clever and intelligent bloke who set this up upon leaving but is he really what we need.

 

In my opinion absolutely. Our game management was atrocious at times last season.

The Bolton home game was pivotal in us not getting automatic promotion. In the playoffs, we conceded ridiculous goals at vital times. Genuinely don't think anything like that would have happened with Hourihane or Roberts on the field.

I'm not suggesting building the team around either of them, but used sensibly and they could be the key to getting us over the line.

 

Maybe he's not what we need. However counter point:

I think the Robert's one makes perfect sense watched a brum game and he still looks like he still got the legs to play as and when needed as said in another thread . The last few times I've watched Hourihane play he's had little or no effect on the game so as a player he's not what we need. He may well be good to have around the team but he would take a chunk out of the wage budget and as a coach he brings zero experience he maybe brilliant or totally useless if he wasn't who he is would there be the same enthusiasm.
