Searching in twitter, a chap under the name of garethj seems to be the first that mentions it around 11.30am Then from that a few others repeating it as "heard"... But nobody backing it up
A) You don't know if it was even on in the first place. B) You don't know if it's off. So...given the complete lack of sound information about the whole thing how do you arrive at the fact that the situation is worrying?
The Ops Manual: 1. send out email comms to stakeholders informing them of issue and updates on regular basis. Works fine until the system that is down is email...
I want to see the interviews broadcast on YouTube. I want to see exactly how bad the questions - and answers - are. I want to be able to use the new coaches words in the interview to moan about him when we lose for the first time...
So if they say who they're talking to it impairs the chance of doing the deal. If they say who isn't in the running among the completely unverified certs they're supposedly lining up that just gives Joe Bloggs the chance to post the next totally guessed at bloke and everybody can lose their s**t over that. So here's what they can reasonably say...."we're currently working on appointing our next manager" Will folk be happy with that? I doubt it.
Never said I expect them to name who they are after. Obviously they can't do that. An update to show they are doing something and to assure things it is imminent etc. would be nice. Rather than just re hashing information about season ticket renewals without giving those doubting if to renew or not a reason to renew. If fans were on the fence around renewing. They certainly are not going to be rushing to spend hard earned money on a season ticket at the moment are they. I personally would be happy with just some form of update and acknowledgement of the situation rather than the total silence. Be nice to be treat as a fan rather than a customer being asked for money for a renewal or pie night.
I wouldn't expect any communication until the appointment. There's nothing they can say. They are obviously trying to appoint someone, and we don't know who until they confirm it, or it leaks from a local journalist. What is disappointing is the amount of time taken to get their candidate... Again. If you're going to sack someone at the time they did, you've got to be quick to get the new person in and give them as much time as possible over the close season. I'd say its disappointing we seldom learn our lessons... But then that's very difficult when the bodies change throughout the club as much as they do.
I'm more frustrated with people saying they 'definitely' know stuff which then doesn't materialise. I just people would stop speculating. Its not needed, does no good for the blood pressure and unnecessarily gets others' hopes up or makes folk fed up or argue amongst themselves. Just shut up!!!! I would like the board to say something even if it's a bland statement like 'we are still working hard in getting the right coach in but no formal news yet ' just so it shuts the speculation down (a bit)
Press saying ‘our understanding’ is basically code for they know nothing and are repeating rumours but they out that for legal reasons.
Nice of the club to keep us updated in the coming days. It’s nearly been a month now. Seems we are repeating past mistakes of not communicating.
Your posts in this thread are filling me with hope that the deal is still on the table/pretty much done! Thank you
With how often we have to appoint managers and sign players, you would like to think they would have the process down to a fine art by now.
I vaguely recall a certain chancer former chief exec saying he was incorporating and documenting processes throughout the club to ensure we adhered to best practices and avoid issues stemming from employee attrition. Ahem...
