I like it. But there's no point getting a manager in if you're not going to back him and there's no point getting a manager in if he isn't given time. Welcome Darrell!

Maybe it’s not the most inspiring of appointments but I’d be very happy with Clarke. Watched a few Cheltenham games last season and thought they played some great football, created quite a few chances but just were not clinical enough. This is the same Cheltenham team that were dead and buried after 9 games (no goals scored in all them games) and very nearly kept them up. Needs some backing if he is the man though
Why is the fact Cheltenham didn't score a goal under the management of someone totally different relevant in a discussion about Darrell Clarke joining Barnsley?
More chance of Darren Clarke? What? It's happening? The board are down to plan L which appears to be poach from Cheltenham as it worked last time.
Didn't know much about him until reading his Wiki profile, but can see how he would fit our profile having done so. He turned down the Leeds United job, while at Bristol Rovers, and has also been of interest to Norwich City previously, so isn't necessarily someone who will automatically jump ship. He's also had to deal with massive squad turnovers in the summer in several of his roles. In the space of about 20 minutes, I've gone from "who?" to actually thinking this could be a good fit for how a head coach at BFC is expected to work. One caveat, is that he's got off to slow starts in a couple of roles previously, including at Bristol Rovers where he ended up being the 4th longest serving EFL manager by the time he left them.
Very solid record at our level on paper looks like the type of bloke we need. Hopefully he stays and is given time to build something .
Says it all that even though he went down with Cheltenham last season, the fans are gutted that he's leaving. Very rare you see a relegated fan base so attached to a manager like that, i think we've got a good one here.
