    I've got to move on.

A year of complete bile and toxicity and I've got to move on because I made a joke about a manager we haven't even appointed.

    You've got to laugh

Clarke is flexible with his formations and is open to different styles of playing rather than sticking to a rigid philosophy, believing that "adaptability is key".[109] He does though have a preference for playing with two strikers.[110] He is known for his intense training sessions and for producing extremely detailed reports on opposition teams.[111] At Bristol Rovers his team played an attacking, passing style and scored an average of close to two goals per game.[7] A motivational manager, he sees a happy dressing room as an essential part of a winning team and has been described as having a bubbly and infectious personality, though has been quoted as saying "I'm not a cuddling manager... soft players don't win you promotions".[112][6] His personality traits make him an energetic, passionate and frank manager.[113] He prefers to maintain a big squad of players and to regularly rotate his starting line-ups.[114] extract from Wikipedia:

He’ll do for me just on that interview alone.

But, he also mentions he just missed out on a top L1 job just before he took the Cheltenham job…. Wonder who that was…….

It’s probably also worth pointing out, this is the new board’s actual first proper appointment by 100% of their management people in place.

I believe your conclusion was "he made damn sure they were relegated" which I believe is incorrect yes.

The evidence and results show quite the opposite.

The opposite? He saved them from relegation?

Be a good appointment but don't see where Hourihane fits into that. Read an article on Hourihane and it looks like he wants to be more than just an assistant.

Nope, that they picked up 44 points in the remaining games with a poor squad and was unlucky in the end to be relegated.

He did well at Cheltenham, their fans think it, several journalists agree and maybe you will one day after you've managed to move past the treatment our last manager received.

Just because the last manager was treated badly doesn't mean you should instantly start downplaying the next managers ability or his previous performances.

I am sorry but how do you get to these conclusions if you have not got anything positive to type would it be possible for you to go and type your tripe on other football sites. I a sorry but all this negativity boils my piss

Great post, if we've got fans instantly against the new manager when we are already up against it with a stronger league next season, a weaker squad and a board seemingly incompetent in certain areas then we're doomed from the start.

    Get behind him.

So not the opposite. In fact, just what I said. They had the potential to be relegated and he was in charge as that became a reality.

    A joke?

Your post reeks of the toxicity and negativity you accused me of contributing to and forcing you to not come to games.

You like to take the moral high ground but with that post you are being hypocritical in the extreme.

Yes it got toxic at games. No it wasn’t helpful.

But it serves no purpose dwelling on what has gone. It serves even less purpose making ‘jokes’ belittling the (alleged and presumed) new head coach before he’s even announced.

So yeah. Move on. Pointless staying bitter. Back the new man, back the team.

I’ve no illusions of grandeur about our club, we have no right to expect anything, and without several very astute signings the coming season might be very long and arduous. We’ve all got grumbles about what went on last season and for various reasons. It’d just be better if we got behind them from the get go.

You said "he made damn sure they got relegated" actually. You seem to be missing that actual phrasing which I'm picking up on, nobody's saying they didn't get relegated but only one person here is implying he purposely got them relegated which is very strange.

Would you like to expand on this or just keep throwing the teddies out of the pram because the last manager wasn't treated as nice as you'd hoped?

He achieved a better overall record over the final 10 games of the season than we did (below is an extract of the form table for those 10 games). If you take out the final game of the season, as Collins wasn't in charge for that point earned, then his team earned 3 points more than we did as we were mounting our end of season 'promotion challenge', with comparatively few resources available to him.

My irony metre has exploded. I'm getting accused of toxicity from someone who regularly called for the managers sacking at half time, in games we went on to win.

I knew what you was getting at. And I can't argue with your well put thoughts, even though I admit I may have added to that toxicity at times. Especially in the heat of the moment during and immediately after games.

I need to take a step back now and again and be more logical like I used to be.

I still haven't got over Norwood leaving so still have work to do lol
