According to Doug, the deadline for the deal has passed. But maybe revisited if DC fancies him

To me, grant is the logical step if Phillips leaves.

Not only that, he certainly deserves serious consideration if he wasn't.

I think he has done enough to warrant the offer to keep him. Been unlucky not to be involved more, but certainly showed he has more than enough to play higher than league 2.

I thought he’d be Kanes replacement, knowing that he was likely to leave when his context expired - that is the Kane who played under Duff, not the Kane from the season just gone that sat in front of the back 3 when Connell was injured and wasn’t much further forward when Connell returned.

He certainly hasn't impressed me. He's been rather anonymous.

In the small cameos he made, what more do you think he could have genuinely done bud? He made a huge impact away at Wycombe & in the play offs. I think given his lack of minutes, he really impressed me - funny old game init!

Was Grant the bloke who played a visionary ball for Cosgrove to score from against Bolton?

It is funny how he couldn't get a game at Mk Dons after initially doing well with them, and then he comes up to us, barely plays but makes a big impact!

Wouldn't say he's a class player yet bud, think that's a bit OTT at this stage. I really hope we do sign him though mate because I think he's definitely shown quality and he's something we are lacking as a team imo. Would be interesting to see if he can perform on a regular basis in league one.

To be fair to the lad he averaged 23 mins a game over 14 appearances and registered 1 goal and 2 assists. Created several goal scoring opportunities that weren't converted by forwards but also came on generally to a team that either gassed in the 1st 60 mins and decided (or were told to) drop deep and dig in or to a side that wanted to try and maintain possession by keeping it being passed around the back side to side.

At 22 years old he's got a lot more potential in him than what Kane offered the 2nd half of last season and arguably more potential than what styles has wasted.

As a plug in and play first team player then no but I've seen enough to take a punt on him as a squad player who may make the step up at some point in the future..........sithi.

Allus careful not to overly criticise players whilst at the club.(constructive yes. Slag off no) as I believe it serves no purpose. Other than makes a player want to get out. But Kane (although a bit of a workhorse) Couldn't pass watter on most plays and invariably the move broke down. And towards the end couldn't or wouldnt tackle a good dinner. He imho is not as good as I believe he thinks he is. Can't believe we spent over a million to sign him.

Completely agree, Kane has been massively over hyped because of how hard the side worked under Duff, I've heard folk say well he got 9 goals but take out his 4 penalties and he's registered 5 times in open play and 5 assists. Not bad numbers but not anything to suggests he was invaluable. Across 43 games anorl.

Most of his time on the pitch this season was to run from midfield into our own half, receive from a CB and instantly return it then jiggle side to side and offer no give and go option and no space created. I suspect he knew he was off early, was never going to re-sign a deal and assumed he'd get bids in January that probably didn't materialise so he got the hump on and downed tools.
