USA, leaders of the free world, a country with so much to offer, yet it's propensity for collective numbnuttery is beyond belief.

Think this will backfire and ensure Trump back in the White House. Sad state of affairs though

And that would effectively endorse the proposition that a president can be above the law. The overt politicisation of the judiciary undermines the rule of law in America, and hence, the worth of the much-vaunted constitution.

I know our country has its problems, but Jesus. Just imagine a scenario where someone running for PM was convicted of 34 corruption offences during the election campaign. The very man running for President may not be legally allowed to cast his own vote. Just think about that.

Although, one of the two candidates - although far from perfect - has effected a recovery from recession by giving more money to the poorer people rather than just massive tax cuts to the rich. He also isn't actively trying to roll-back much of the progress of the 20th century - which the other candidates is promising to do.

Hate to say it RF but I think you're right. His Campaign will now be all about garnering sympathy and how he is the victim of Biden's election interference methods.

Kremlin says rivals are trying to get rid of Trump
The Kremlin has had its say on Donald Trump's case, claiming the verdict shows all "legal and illegal" means are being used to oust political rivals in the US.

That's rich, Russia just shoves them out of windows or poisons them.

Much talk of a civil war from MAGA, but if there is one it should be fought between themselves and traditional Republicans, because their party is absolutely ******. It’s become their own version of the Monster Raving Loony Party.

As long as that rabble of an electorate exists, there will always be opportunists like Trump and the circus that surrounds him.

I don’t. Many traditional republicans have already turned their backs on him.

He’s only getting sympathy from those that already vote for him.

Russia are going to say that, they want Trump back in the Whitehouse. He's committed to reducing or stopping aid to Ukraine and has often talked positively about Putin

If he hadn't already hollowed the GOP out, they men in the suits would have had a word and he'd be making a speech this morning to unannounce his candidacy. They are "the party of law and order" after all...

Yep, ‘hollowed out’ like a canoe that’s now shooting the rapids. :)

Having not commented for 24 hours and having a good think about it, my conclusion is it all just makes me sad.

And there is more to come he as to answer to the attack on Jan 6th, asking a returning officer to fined votes, running off with top secret dossiers to name but a few.
Been a good few days Angela Raynor making Tory MPs look TW@ts and now this Trump gets his come upence.

Dunno about sad. More worrying that large swathes of a first world country can be so easily shaped into a cult by conspiracy theorists, religious leaders, politicians and the media.

I’ve just listened to Trumps first speech since being found guilty. He’s like a broken record and said nothing that he hadn’t repeated through this court case and since he lost the election. Anyone with a brain would be bored to tears by him and know he has nothing to offer, but blame and lack of self awareness.
