Anyway, When does our squad strengthening start?

We now have a new head coach and a new player coach.
When will we start to hear what is happening on the new player front?

 

The tranfer window literally only opened today, bud. I'll be shocked if we don't get the main bunch of our targets in before the end of the pre-season, especially after the bit of positivity we've now had with new managerment, sponsors & obviously Conor's return.

Yeah I'm hopeful mate. With the toxicity around the club last year, I think they'd be daft to let some of this positivity slip. Think they need to do all they can to get our targets in as quickly as possible

We've never recovered from selling William Hondermarck.

 

I predict we will sign more players in august than in July.

 

Was thinking the same, especially if there’s genuine interest for Styles and any others, their fees may well determine which of our targets/interests we go for.

 

If we wait that long it will be dregs - my prediction.

 

What are you basing that on? Because in the past, some of our best players have been signed in August. McAtee last season for one, Phillips the season before being another.

We'll have approached clubs/agents.

It's then a waiting game. Patience is a virtue....

 

Exactly, both Clarke and Sorbaz have said that we've got bids in for targets, and that we're 'working down a list'. There's still a lot of very good players out of contract who won't have any difficulty finding a club. They can literally take their time and wait for the best deal.

Ideally, we'd love to sign a new keeper, left wing back and striker, the 3 positions our DoF have said are a priority, before pre-season starts. But if the players we want in those positions aren't available yet, we have to wait. It's only mid June, there's no cause for alarm just yet.

 

I would think the Styles sale may have implications on our incoming transfers. £2m if that's his buyout clause gives us more options for bringing players in but if it takes to the end of the transfer window to get shut of him or he stays then that may affect what we can or can't do. Just a thought not fact.

 

I think it’s quite clear that we are not getting £2M for Styles. I like him, more than the majority on here it seems, but I’m not even sure we’ll get £1M. I hope the plans aren’t built around getting £2M.

If we paid £500k for a player with Styles' performances over the last 2 years, we'd be up in arms. If anyone comes in for him, it's likely to be a free, hidden by "undisclosed" to get him off the wage bill. Unless he has a blinder in the next 2 games, as on this showing, Hungary aren't going very far in this tournament.
