This is why Labour won't win in 2029

We've had 14 hellish years of conservative self serving rule. Can we just focus on the present election and not worry too much about 2029 for a bit?

 

Well having had a look at the Reform Ltd AKA The Farage Pension fund Manifesto sorry contract. Labour has nothing to fear from them in 2029 it's figures make Trusses mini budget look like sane economics one wiff of that becoming government policy and the truss economic meltdown will look like a small bump in the economic road.

 

But don’t forget the nation voted for a manchild to be Prime Minister after chopping our money tree (EU) down

 

Funny that the ‘changed’ Labour Party that Starmer has saved will probably get a lower percentage of votes than Labour did in 2017. It’s a miracle…

 

Or a very well-played hand, considering the changed political landscape!

 

it’s like Stockholm syndrome though. I’m convinced his followers don’t care about how much it hurts them. Most won’t even read the manifesto let alone care

 

Not sure you can plan the tories imploding and Farage being determined to make them lose as big as possible for his own ends. Think even Neil Kinnock could beat the current lot.

Florid prose for sure, but politically naive.

 

I don't know if you've seen the manifesto analysis by Dan Niedle, but yeah it was full of the ideas of Policy Exchange and the IEA that sunk Liz Truss but on steroids. I think the budget hole they were looking at was around £100bn. Because it failed once so wouldn't fail again.

 

Labour probably won't win in 2029, it will take at least 2 parliaments to fix the damage done to the country by Cameron, Farage, Johnson, Truss and Sunak (not to mention Thatcher) and if there is no feeling of things getting better, they will be out. However, if Labour can be forced to accept this likelihood, they may be inclined to reform the electoral system thus denying the Tories the opportunity to wreck any progress they do make, they should also restore the fixed-term Parliament act. That will mean that the 2029 election will be the first in our long history where the views of the people will be accurately reflected in the makeup of the Commons. Then we might be on the road to being a truly democratic society instead of being ruled by the products of the Twohat Factories of Eton and Harrow et al.

Well that I don't know, but he seems to be assuming that once in power, Labour will do no more than has been outlined in the manifesto. That is rather ignoring the signals, wouldn't you say?
