Yeah, bit pointless imo. Stick to banks and big corporations.

Spraying relatively modern art, buildings is stupid. Spraying a monument that is 1000's of years old, something that's stood unmolested for millennia, only for these freaks to deface it is absolutely unacceptable. Some may say it's extreme, but I would genuinely lock them up for life. What right do they have to deface something so precious. That has absolutely infuriated me.

Unbelievable behaviour. WTF can they get out of damaging a historic structure?
Puts me off supporting their cause. Totally counter productive.

Clearly a reaction to the HGVs used to transport the stones and the cranes used to put the in place. Can't fault the protesters

Absolutely baffling this one. Their target for protesting against oil and the climate crisis, is a 5000-year old UNESCO World Heritage Site? I can't imagine stunts like this are gonna do the cause any favours.

“I would love to care about the imminent mass extinction event and millions being displaced by catastrophic ongoing climate disasters getting worse year after year but some people threw some orange corn starch at some rocks that will wash off in an hour of rain so I am now pro the end of life on earth and am too busy pushing for the death penalty for anyone that interrupts the status quo” is such a funny centrist consensus to reach. Big Kieth Starmer will be proud.

What a weird take. If you actually think stuff like this doesn't matter or it will get people on their side is just completely wrong. Its a disgrace. Go make a difference to the people and corporations who are actively involved in the oil or monetary business. Ridiculous. There isnt an imminent mass extinction event, there's time to change things. But things like this certainly will not help.

Where have you seen that consensus? Certainly not on this thread. I think a lot of people will just be asking 'why Stonehenge'? There are literally 1000s of legitimate targets for their cause. I just don't see how a 5000 year old ancient historical site is one of em. Sometimes you just can't defend the indefensible. I support their cause, but even I think that was just a daft thing to do.

We are talking about it. That’s why they do it.

Aye. Getting people talking about summat doesn't always justify it though, does it.

I'm not defending or agreeing with their methods... But this is exactly the point they're trying to make. Just replace Stonehenge with Planet Earth.

As long as it has this effect and reaction they'll keep going and more will join them.

I'm totally for protest but stunts like this (and it was a stunt) actually achieve nothing/ very little positive but do hurt their cause. Its also disrespectful, both to our history and to the few druids left who take great pride in the religious significance of the stones. No support whatsoever from me - in fact I'm now going to buy shares in Esso and am going to buy an oil burning stove just to piss em off!!

Damaging Stonehenge would be pretty indefensible but if it's cornflour then ultimately there's no harm done.

History is littered with proof that disruptive protest and getting people's attention works. Some people on here would have been commenting how out of order it was for Emily Davison to throw herself in front of that horse etc.

How many of us support the cause but do little or nothing about it. We can all do our little bit. By reducing our carbon footprint.

I'm not sure they (protesters) are doing it the right way. But it raises awareness. Going after the big corporate culprits of climate change means little. (Other than a little inconvenience)

Governments Have to be the target as they are the only ones who can really change things.
Sunak has done u turns. Labour have cut back on pledged spending. (Both highly critical of the protest) We need the rest of the world to make the effort. But for too many countries it's one of, if not their major source of revenue. Carbon fuels.

As someone said, it raises awareness. And will wash off. So the anger will go away. Climate change won't. Unless summat is done about it.

So in reality I'm more concerned about future generations and what may happen before it's too late. (If not already). I have done my little bit in trying to reduce my footprint. but could do lots more tbh.
    Eg
I cussed having to pay £17.50 per day for Ulez. (London) Over a couple of days. But if I lived in london, a car would be totally unnecessary as the public transport links are second to none in this country.
We (south yorks) were heading in the same direction till Thatcher.

Seems a lot more anger and annoyance within the public against them now. Will certainly not get people joining. Target the corrupt, then you'll get movement and people willing.
