Postal vote

Why would anybody go to the polling stations when voting by post is so easy?

Dropped off mine and the Mrs today when I was out anyway, took all of 30 seconds.

Went for Labour, even though I felt the Lib Dems manifesto was FAR stronger, they just have no chance of winning my seat unfortunately.

 

Undecided voters who want to take more time to think it over?
Some people may actually enjoy going to the Polling station I suppose.

For the record I'm with you. Did mine yesterday, went with Refo.......... just kidding, Labour - would never forgive myself if I didn't vote and Reform got the Barnsley seat.

 

Did the postal vote the day it came. Popped it in the post the same evening. Job done. No need to worry about getting delayed on Polling Day or having to worry about remembering ID cards etc.

It might not be for everyone but it suits me and my wife perfectly.

 

Because my polling station is just across the road, it would take longer to post my vote in the nearest postbox!

 

I am having to vote by post this time unfortunately, they haven’t arrived yet though. I’ve never understood people who do who are able to go on the day, anything could happen between voting and election day and you can’t change your vote. Imagine if your candidate says or does something truly horrible and your stuck voting for them and thereby endorsing their behaviour because you’d already sent it off.

 

I like going to vote in person. Don't know why. Just feels like I'm making a difference.

 

I’ve no idea who I’ll vote for ,it’s a new constituency I was going to hold my nose and vote for the local Labour candidate but the more I hear about her the more difficulty I have voting for her, claiming she hasn’t any Westminster connections but been Yvette Coopers researcher for years , wants to clean the rivers up but spent two years as a lobbyist for Yorkshire Water one of the country’s biggest polluters

 

Well the Lib Dems will never win if you don’t vote for them.
So you liked their policies but decided to vote Labour who have policies you don’t want.
Follow your beliefs.

I like going to my polling station; St Pauls, Old Town is a superb bit of architecture, and I'm an athiest.

 

if i vote for lib dem’s it makes it more likely for the tories or reform to win. Lib Dems will never overtake Labour so it’s labour or throw my vote away so i voted for the party that has the best chance of winning that i’m not totally opposed to.

I doubt there’s anything they could say that would make me want to vote for them less than the tories or reform. I know officially we vote for a candidate and not a party, but the reality is decisions are made by the parties not the individuals

We started postal voting many years ago for exactly the same reason. We are now retired and on the way back from posting ours this morning I realised I’d walked twice further to the post box than it is to get to the polling station.

 

Me and the wife have PVs too. Both sent back, votes for LibDem. Only candidate with any chance of taking the Tory held seat in our constituency.

 

Postal voting avoids some of the difficulties brought in by the new voter ID rules, so there's been active campaigning for people to use them if they're likely to fall foul of the ID requirements. Naturally, the Tories who brought in this form of voter suppression are subsequently complaining about the number of postal votes now being made.

My wife's received her postal ballot, but not yet sent it in. I enjoy going to vote on the day, so didn't apply for one.

 

I also like to know my vote is actually in the ballot box. I'd be worried that my vote might get lost in the post!
