I thought Foden was absolutely unplayable for City at times, but for England in these last two games he's been pretty woeful. I don't know if its the manager, the system or just Foden isn't as good as I thought he was but he's been the biggest disappointment so far for me in the England team.
1st game Foden did nothing with the ball, but he put more effort in that anyone else in the team with his off the ball work but that doesn’t show up on TV. Second game he was literally the only one showing for the ball and trying to create things in the first half, can’t comment on second half as never saw it.
Hecky sent Mowatt, Mallan and Mcgeehan out on loan. He played with Gary Gardiner and Joe Williams in midfield and wouldn't pick Moncur. I'd say he compares with Southgate in the sense that Southgate doesn't know what a number 10 is either. Hence Kane coming back into midfield all the time.
There are 2 options - either drop TAA, shift Bellingham back and play Foden centrally or if we are going to persist with the TAA madness or play Mainoo/Wharton then just drop Foden for someone who provides pace and width on the left.
Gardner & Williams barely played together. Gardner missed nearly all the first half of that season & then Williams left in January with a back injury. They might have played together about 5 or 6 times. There was only Mowatt that got loaned out. It tended to be Williams sitting with Potts to the right of him & either McGeehan or Moncur to the left of him. Moncur & McGeehan played loads that season. It was the season before that Moncur got the munk on & demanded a loan move because Hecky wouldn’t make him a guaranteed starter over Hourihane, Scowen & Morsy.
