I thought the first hour was superb. Not the biggest fan of all the delays & crowd interaction. I’d rather have a couple of other tunes played like Trouble & In My Place
I only like their early stuff, so not really my cup of tea anymore BUT I think they put on a really good show tonight.
I’ve not seen tonight’s effort but their headlining set at the IOW Festival in 2006 was outstanding. It was just after X&Y came out and I wasn’t prepared for just how good they were going to be. Not everyone liked them then, or now, but it was one of the best live performances I’ve ever seen, along with REM (2005) and the Rolling Stones (2007). I’ve not been back to the festival since then but those three years were memorable with the likes of Keane, Travis, Foo Fighters and Snow Patrol supporting the above three headliners.
I actually don’t mind Coldplay but I do wonder if they’d look as good without all the theatrics…lovely touch having Michael J Fox join them for Fix you though
Seen them 3 times, and I doubt anything will top them in my lifetime & I’ve been to countless gigs. Sure they’ve taken a new direction in terms of their musical output over the last decade, their first 4 albums probably being their best material, but they know how to stay relevant & write music that translates well to the live setting. Major props to them for making their shows environmentally friendly as well. The beauty of Glasto & other music festivals though is there is something for everyone, music is subjective after all.
They clearly resonate with many, but I immediately switch them off in any setting. That’s music for you.
You could say that about anyone. That's music for you. Punk, Garage, Techno Thrash Metal, Rap, R&B are all genres I can't get on with but they're all popular with someone.
Liked them when they first came on the scene, not a fan of the later stuff can see why they are marmite. The show they put on last night was pretty good
