Skipton and Ripon constituency - a 'safe' Conservative seat held by Julian Smith (former Chief Whip) since 2010 and apparently a good constituency MP. Over a 20,000 majority at 2019 election. Only ever voted Labour at a General Election, with one notable exception in 2010 when as a protest I voted Lib Dem. Shudder. Lost faith in Labour under Starmer and would love to vote with my conscience and go Green this time - but with Labour running second in this constituency and gaining ground according to the polls (although Reform could be a threat), this has pushed me into sending off the postal vote with a cross against the name of Labour's Malcolm Birks. Secretly hoping that Lib Dems can outscore the Conservatives, be the opposition in Parliament and push Labour into scrapping FPTP.
I honestly doubt that the majority of reform voters around South Yorkshire and similar places are former Tory voters. There will be a very high number of them who have one reason and one reason only for backing the far right xenophobic limited company. I predict they’ll get at least half a dozen seats, including one round here - sounds likely to be Barnsley South. Sad really, but here we are.
Barnsley North Lab 1/10 Ref 5/1 Cons 20/1 Barnsley South Lab 1/7 Ref 8/1 Cons 50/1 And please let it happen………… Penistone & Stocksbridge Lab 1/8 Cons 8/1 Ref 20/1
Beware the "shy" phenomenon. There always seem a decent number who are too shy... Some may argue ashamed, to declare that they vote for right and far right parties.
https://fantasyelection.co.uk/ Here's a laugh for all you Fantasy Sports Enthusiasts - Fantasy General Election. Select your side based on defenders (those currently an incumbent MP looking to hold onto their seat) and attackers (those who are looking to win a seat). The bigger majority that is won/overturned, the more points you get! Might be time to have Farage as your star man
Can’t believe we have 7 votes for a party that have presided over one of the most farcical governments in my lifetime. https://x.com/JonathanPieNews/status/1808084571579208187?t=nAN4mqQbZ2CBtgGAVdmboQ&s=08
"Farcical" sums it up. However, you stated "one of". I'd be interested to know which one you think tops the farce list. I'm assuming it's one you saw on a Spitting Image sketch?
similar odds pre Brexit. (If you put Labour as remain, reform as leave) I know this one isn’t as binary and not a 100% representation but it will be closer than a 10% / 14% chance in Barnsley north/south, is there a spread bet margin in the election markets?
Lib Dems or Green. Not decided. Would like to vote Labour but can't do it out of principle. I know the arguments about FPTP and tactical voting but given that Labour will almost certainly win, the Tories will get hammered and Reform wont get many seats I've decided to vote with my conscience
Labour for me. We’ve had a boundary change and lost Rachel Reeves who’s been a damn good MP, even if she is too centrist for my liking. We’ve got someone I’ve never heard of (outside of campaign literature) but @John Peachy reckons he’s a good egg as he’s been his MP and everyone on all the other leaflets sound like nutters. We got a Conservative leaflet for the right time ever. It was a bit of a weird one, it just listed all the things that’s great about Leeds, basically just stated all of Labour’s achievements.
it is actually its 7 now, but even the Tories would be better than the Plc owned by a Russian Puppet whose polices cant possibly work in any real world Their financial policies make Trusses look sensible. I can possibly understand someone rich and selfish voting Tory but to vote Reform you need to either be thick or just blindly protesting and hoping they dont win.
