I read your other response. But if the solution to the current situation in our country (which has been magnified and accelerated by Brexit) is to turn to Reform, then there's no other way to describe it. It's either racism, selfishness, wealth or idiocy. It's really that simple. If folk are as disillusioned as you say, then there's plenty of options. Vote Green. Vote Lib Dem. Vote Labour. Vote Independent. But to vote Reform? Nope. I'm sorry.
Yes, that’s what we had (postage paid one). The back page was the generic Starmer bit I think everyone got and then the inside was personalised to Leeds. The Starmer thing was a weird choice as from far away when I picked it up, I just associated it with all the usual ‘we need you’ stuff that generally means support them. It just conjured up the thought that I was supposed to vote for him as my country needs me to.
TBF, there’s not many ‘Lefties’ on here - judging by the voting intentions. The top three in the voting are all Right Wing! Just different shades.
Thanks so much mate, good news is it hadn’t spread anywhere else at the time of treatment, which is self has a 95% success rate. Side effect I’m struggling with is fatigue, which I’m told is normal, but no less frustrating when this should be my busiest time of year!
From Farage’s autobiography. ‘Man of the People’ he is not. As for his ‘policies’ he’s openly said that he couldn’t and wouldn’t enact them if he were to become PM. Instead, he’s said they are promises of what he will push whoever is actually PM to do (despite saying himself that they aren’t actually possible so pushing for them will do nothing).
Labour have a 92% chance of winning https://www.survation.com/survation-mrp-labour-99-certain-to-win-more-seats-than-in-1997/
He's every bit the fascist elite establishment he claims to oppose. How people can't see this is utterly beyond me. The biggest grifter in British politics, bar none. Monetises hate and division, by preying on the stupid and vulnerable.
Survation from their MRP poll has both Penistone and Barnsley North as 100% likely to go Labour and 92% for Barnsley South.
Sincerest good wishes. 95% is as good as it gets with the medical profession - they will never commit themselves to saying 100% ! Living with a nasty illness in itself is tiring. This on top of the fatigue directly caused by the illness is knackering. Often people will compare your 'fatigue' with the 'fatigue' they experience after doing some physical activity. They don't realise the fatigue you experience is different and at times over-whelming.
I think this election is going to bring a massive shift in UK politics. I reckon if the Tories were to come third then we might in time end up with a more centrist party as it is clear the majority of the public dont want far left or right. That's why Blair did well and that's why Starmer is doing well. Die hard Labour supporters may not be happy with him, but you have to give the electorate what they want.
Its the calling out all as 'stupid' I disagree with. Yep there are racists, there are in my opinion people who vote against their own best interests, there are people who think other parties are 'extreme'. Its not that simple as you seem to suggest though. The simplistic thing is just slagging these people off instead of engaging with the issues head on. So why can't other parties attract their support? Its not because they're 'stupid'. I think its because their concerns dont seem to be addressed. If their fears and arguments, however distasteful they may be to you and me, aren't attended to they'll have more powder in future and indeed more people will flock to them. Engage with their claims but don't just call them stupid. Its the patronising tone that I think is totally ineffectual. I agree with you that they're dangerous and there are better options but, again, condemn with easy phrases at your peril. If you know a potential reform voter talk to him/her and explain but don't call said person stupid - it is counterproductive.
It's counterproductive but it's very accurate. We've got one lad at work who is going to vote reform. He also believes that the titanic was switched with the olympic, that bill gates rules the world, that the COVID vaccine was designed to control our brains and that putin is dead and it's actually Donald trump controlling Russia at the moment. Oh and another lad at work planning on voting Reform who is doing so because "Nigel farage didn't die in a plane crash which is more than can be said for kier starmer or rishi Sunak so im voting for him"
I've tried to engage - in the run up to the Brexit vote. Then in the run up to 2019. 'Engaging' has been going on for about 8 years. There comes a time when you throw your hands up and say that's it. And yes, people can want change. I alluded to that earlier. Green. Lib Dem. Labour. Independent. SNP. PC. Count Blumming Binface. But not Reform. Never Reform. That's why I stand by my statement of stupidity.
Thankyou! Yes, the fatigue is mental. Closest thing I can think of was first Covid. I didn’t feel particularly unwell, but could sleep for England.
