First part of the plan completed with Hourihane and Roberts in to help younger players along. Now to bring in a few more additions. The penny seems to have finally dropped. https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/a...olumn-roberts-deal-completes-1st-part-of-plan
I read the interview and then saw a link for Vinnie the police dog taking down a car thief. There is a link to a video on the chronicle site of the takedown. 'Vinne - stop him' fantastic. Wonder if we can borrow Vinnie for the left wing back position. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?extid=CL-UNK-UNK-UNK-IOS_GK0T-GK1C&mibextid=KsPBc6&v=436601852547623
Exactly what several of us have said all along about older heads helping the kids and very encouraging to hear that he’s come in and brought about flexibility in the approach in this way. Nothing negative in the signings or in what Mladen has had to say whatsoever.
I think we probably needed to go down this route. No guarantees, and to be fair we’ve been ‘close but no cigar’ twice in consecutive seasons following the previous plan, but we’ve now seen regulars leave for nothing, and are left with a lot of young players. This might just be the ‘tweak’ we need to go the extra yard, and might even make us look more attractive to players,
Midfield may be covered if one of the acadamy lads can step up or Wolfe or Benson can play more than a game without breaking down We have Styles back so I dont think we will be desperate to sign another mid unless we can sell him Left back and striker top priorities now
Yeah we look a bit top heavy in midfield but other than Phillips i don’t see many goals from our midfielders at the minute and i honestly think especially if he starts the season well that Phillips will be sold before the transfer window closes.
Think Styles should take a hard good look at himself, take a step back and buckle down to some grafting for the team. If he's as good as he thinks he is then this season should be used as the shop window to reboot and put his footy skills where his over ratwd ego is. We all know he's now an international perhaps its time to prove he's the footballer.
Is Styles even back training yet ? I get he’s probably allowed back later with being in the Euros, 2 weeks in Ibiza or Dubai then back at it surely
I'd like to see callum aa first choice LWB with Lofthouse as back up, but firstly he needs to want to be here and want to work hard.
As far as I see it, we either get a reasonable offer, which I reckon would be sub £1 million, or he buckles down & puts himself in the shop window as a LWB / left midfielder, depending on what formation we play. If we get the right offer, then there is the money for a decent replacement.
Very much doubt we would get anything even close to £1m. Final year of contract, probably down to around a quarter of that now
Has anyone actually "really" wanted Styles? For me his best performances were that spell under Stendel dovetailing with Williams in 2019 and then 2021 season under Val.
I said sub £1 million. I think they will look at offers, but he is under contract. May look at the fact he can sit on his Ron Harris, or knuckle down for a year & see what offers he gets then.
Why he’s been absolutely ***** for 3 seasons now in that position. He doesn’t even deserve a place in our team. No wonder no one else fancies him either.
