Doug reckons we need 4 more on his post. Id suggest 6 or 7.

2 or 3 strikers needed for rotation and rest. Relied too heavily on Cole all last year!

I think 4 is what Mladen has said is the priority, not that we only need 4 players.

Cole was ***** according to many of our fans. Not a patch on Norwood.

We’ll still be looking for a keeper, left back, midfielder and a striker in January,

Seems Wildsmith is set to join West Brom so that's one that won't be coming here by looks

I think we need half a dozen as I can see quite a few fringe players being let go.

    Correct.

The likes of Wolfe, Marsh, Benson, Russell, McCarthy all not good enough/injury prone/both.
Plus we need to replace players we lost. We can’t rely on the youngsters.

Marsh won't be going anywhere, we took the option to extend it by a year to June 2025. If you were planning on getting rid you wouldn't do that (it's not like we're gonna get anything for him and you wouldn't loan him out either, those two options would be counter productive).
So I can only assume he's going to be in and around the first team this season. Which I think is pretty worrying, always got time for a local lad but let's face it he's not good enough for a club that should be trying to get out of this division.

So I'm at a loss to why we extended it. I think we'll struggle to shift a significant number of those you've mentioned in honesty (although I agree in terms of we should be moving them on).

I don't see it with Marsh unfortunately' i know he's a local lad and we all wanted him to succeed but in the limited appearances he's made he hasn't impressed imo' we need to be looking for proven strikers at this level to get us promoted' easier said than done of course..

Presumably we'd forfeit any compensation due if we didn't extent his contract. I'm not 100% sure how it works, but if he was out of contract and we didn't offer him at least the same deal, he leaves for nothing. By extending a further year, we're due compensation next season providing we offer him another deal at least on the same money. I guess we're banking on him doing enough this season to warrant interest from someone else next summer.

Think we are going to be relying heavily on the 'golden generation'....... Which is fine but I'm not sure how they become League one standard over night.

I'd prefer us to bring in 3 or 4 players of definite 1st team quality and then supplement the squad with our highly rated youngsters when needed. Much better than the scattergun approach of bringing in 7/8 cheaper players who in all honesty often prove to be no better than our best young uns anyway.

This is how I see it. We've lost all these players whose contracts were up with no money coming in so nowt to spend on transfers. We've brought in a couple of older experienced free transfers because we'll be using the young 'uns in the first team so experience was needed to coach / bring the young 'uns up to speed.

Are we trying to beat Ipswich to Liam Delap?

I’m honestly starting to think that finances are a lot worse than we’ve been told. I imagine any further incomings are very reliant on getting a few more fringe players out. A couple of good loans will probably be crucial.

Leaving for nothing would be the best outcome, any compensation we receive will not cover a years worth of wages for him. Sadly he's not the one, it's a shame but it he just isn't.

I'm really OK with what we are doing at the moment. 2 old heads & lots of decent young prospects at the club. If we are not going to give our academy a chance we may as well bin it. We've not been able to blood the youngsters properly, as we've had no leadership on the pitch in recent seasons. We have that now. Time for Jalo & a few others. A decent striker would be my priority now.

Too much reliance on Jalo for me. I’d be over the moon if he comes through like every one is expecting but we need at least one proven striker in.
