There are two managers in a game though. Koeman is no slouch and made good changes to get the Dutch back in the game. Southgate made changes, we had a goal ruled out for a tight offside and then after a couple more changes we scored the winner. He’s not the messiah, but you can’t argue with his results. More semi finals in the last 4 tournaments than in my living memory.
As much as Foden is getting better each game, I think Trippier is getting worse each game. And that does ask real questions about Gareth's squad selections in the first place. But tonight he's reacted positively and it's worked for him/us. And like I said, before a ball is kicked in Sunday's Final, I think we've done so well to reach this stage...again!!.
Christ. Enjoy the moment... Whether we win or not on Sunday these moments should be cherished and enjoyed as they don't come along too often. Southgate you're the one...
Yep, if we criticise we have to praise too! I personally wouldn't have started Trippier at left back again (if it is actually true that Shaw is fully fit) but he made the change at half time, and had the balls to take Kane off too (who I still don't think fully fits into this system)! So well done Southgate and let's hope it continues and win finally win summat again! Edit - was against a good side too, I know they didn't look great at all times, but I still maintain the Dutch have/had the best defence (certainly in terms of depth). I'm not pretending they're excellent further up but they're an extremely dangerous side and we've won it. I often mention how poor his record is against top 10 ranked teams so even more credit to him today for the win!
'He's not won anything' Just like 99.9% of other England managers. He's had better outcomes/results as England manager in the last 8 years than we have had in our history - barring '66 of course. 1900 - 2016 1 final - win 2 semis - loss 2016 - 2024 2 finals 1 semi 1 quarter Genuine idiocy.
It's like us getting to the (Play off) Final at Wembley. I know nothing is won at this stage, and nobody is saying it is, but it is an achievement to get there. It feels a damn sight better to do this, rather than going out in the group stages for example, or maybe not even qualifying!.
