One question I have is are the women’s team going to wear the silvery away kit? Because although it’s not white, it’s not far off and surely would lead to the same potential issues as the white shorts?!
The black got dropped because JAQ said the players were too warm in it, just says 'it was agreed' - again, don't know who by!
Too warm in black shorts? Mens team - red and white women - red and Black or all red if she insists Stop pissing about with our club’s history.
Asking the players doesn’t cut it for me. The kit is part of what defines the club - the players are here for a couple of seasons if they’re lucky. Vast majority of my years watching the reds have seen them playing in white shorts. They change the away strip every season, and often use it even when there’s not a colour clash. I’m not going to cut my wrists over this, but I like to see the white shorts with the home kit, and for the REDS to play in RED shirts whenever possible too. http://historicalkits.co.uk/Barnsley/Barnsley.htm
It's just a one-off to make a point. The white shorts will almost certainly be back next season. According to that link we've already worn red shorts in my lifetime anyway. I would have been three years old - did anyone care back at the time? Also, while I'm here, I really like hooped socks. I think they're kinda neat, and we should have them more.
I dont disagree with you Fired! I've defended JAQ a lot but a lot of stuff is starting to feel a little intentional at times.
The Lyon’s Cakes was a great kit. Brings back some great memories of players like Cooper and Currie, but it was a one off, and we were soon back to white. I think you’re overlooking that we played in red shorts for the entirety of last season, so this isn’t a one off, making a point or not.
You're right, turns out I did overlook that. I guess the white towards the bottom of the shirt confused me.
I've read the article, and I have to say that JAQ comes across as being a bit of a hypocrite. Us fans are the lifeblood of the Club, yet she's accusing large sections of fans of being bigoted and out of touch because we want white shorts with the home kit. Is she a total lunatic or what? It seems to me like the only opinion she couldn't care less about is a fans opinion, moreso a male fans opinion. There's only one sexist I'm seeing here, and that's JAQ herself. She changed a century long theme of white shorts because the kit washer tows to get grass stains out? To quote Roy Keane, "That's your job". Women don't want to wear white shorts? Don't wear them then, wear some black ones if the fear of period stains are the main concern, I noticed they're seemingly happy to sport the grey ones with the Away kit. I know she gets abuse on X, and it's out of order. But, no abuse, and just my opinion, I really do not like that Woman.
To be honest mate, when the thread started it never entered my mind that we’d worn them last season. I’d totally forgot. I only checked because last seasons kits not been updated on that link.
That picture of her sat in the West Stand with a training top on with JAQ on it. Surprised she didn't just give herself the managers job. I'm all for the women to wear what colour shorts, but the men's team should be white. "Disrupter" sounds like something David Brent would aspire to be.
But she is progressive. Next season she will change all our grass to astroturf to protect the kits all together. The groundsman said they are struggling to stop grass stains.
Next thing, she'll be stopping us sending the young apprentices up the chimney in the West Stand to clean it.
Absolutely BS just have red fit the women’s team then ( not read the article) does that mean they will be red forever? The. By that token why are the away off white/mucky grey ?
There's a lot I like about JAQ and I've said so often enough but not on this subject. I'm perfectly happy for the women's team to wear whatever colour shorts they wish. But the men's team should wear red shirts and white shorts. Stop f***ing about with our identity!
