That was changed a couple of years ago, they are now allowed to wear dark underwear/shorts.

Obviously this is an article in a paper, so you can’t read too much into it - some things will have been taken out of context.

Generally though, I’m not too bothered about the white shirts either way. It’s how we play on the pitch that matters.

As for the ladies team - it’s a great setup, and the girls youth layers below it is becoming stronger and stronger. We should be really proud as a Town for how far as a club we’ve come with this setup, and we’re attracting good players from other clubs too. JAQ and the rest of the team deserve a lot of credit for it. And as she says, it should not be about one or the other - we should be unified about it and support all of our teams.

Change is never easy. Especially when your reasons for a particular change look ridiculous. Even more so when you fail to canvas views of your main stakeholders... In this instance... Your paying fan base.

The suggestion of uniformity is gibberish when you have differing sponsor's across both teams. The issue of black shorts is truly absurd. On this basis the mens team can never wear black shorts ever again. If they are too hot for women, they most certainly are for men. So we can't expect to see very dark kits in future.

It smacks as her having a personal stance that under scrutiny has unravelled so excuses are being pedalled.

The womens kit can be anything. The men's kit can be anything. The club has had a mens kit of red shirts and white shorts for the vast majority of its existence. Stop messing with things for the sake of it. And as well... Stop this use of stars, it looks cheap and crap and has zero relevance to the football club or local area.

They are reserved for away goalkeepers next season when Conor peppers a few set pieces at em.

The women’s team did not ask for red shorts.

Showing solidarity for an important issue in women's sport seems fine to me. The men's team could always change back after a season or two if everyone still prefers the white shoets. But symbolically it's a very positive thing to do.

Plus it'll really p*ss Joey Barton off

I don't mind us making the men's kit all red (with more white trim), which once again is a nod back to the memorable Lyons Cakes '88 season kit.
But this should be done more sparingly, every 3rd season maybe, after 2 years of normal red n white.
What annoys me the most though, is why does JQ get to have so much say in the kits. It just comes across yet again, of her saying its my club and I will do what I want, etc.

I understand why people want white shorts. I would prefer them too. Although I wouldn't be so dramatic as saying it's messing with the club's history. They're just shorts.

I'm surprised there couldn't be some kind of compromise, where white was incorporated more, maybe in the shirt like last season, maybe white side panels to the shorts, maybe white on the socks.

But it IS messing with the clubs history. It's our kit and it's our identity. Red shirts, white shorts. And she's got **** all reason to do it

You are dramatic. :D Last year you claimed having white on the shirt instead of the shorts was akin to playing in blue and white stripes.

In fact, now I've read my post back about compromising with white panels, maybe we should be celebrating the fact she didn't compromise. Maybe me suggesting compromise is why I'm not a fashion guru.

You don't think that the Barnsley FC kit is our clubs identity?

The kit is part of it, sure. And the white shorts are only part of that part. We're still red. But playing at Oakwell is a bigger part of the identity, for example. Being the underdog is another.

As I say, I understand why people want white shorts. But it isn't that big a deal, surely?
