I'm after a bit of advice regarding going to Clifton Park to watch Yorkshire, if the BBS hivemind could help I haven't been before but I'm thinking of popping across there for the one-day cup game next week. I was originally planning on going by train, however I then saw mention that it's advisable to take your own chair. Ideally I'd prefer not to be lugging a camping chair around with me, especially as there looks to be a bit of a walk from the station. Is there actually any seating available pitchside, or alternatively if I decide to drive and take a chair, any advice on where to park etc? Thanks!
I am pretty certain there us ample parking on site. From the footage of Yorkshire in action there I think it is advisable to take your own chair.
Me and the boy are going on Wednesday Frans. It’s a cracking day out at York. Parking is ample and well organised so definitely recommend if it’s an option. I need to check but if memory serves they let members in a little earlier than us plebs so they hoovered up all the spaces around the boundary. I ended up taking our chairs back to the car as no room (not a problem as only a short walk). We took our cool box etc and sat in one of the temporary stands where there was plenty of room. Yorkshire got battered the last time we went but a good day other than that! Loads of merchandise stands, food and ice cream vans etc if you fancy stretching your legs and having a break from the cricket for half an hour. Nets available so kids can play etc. Can’t recommend it enough.
That’s great, thank you. I usually take in a few matches at Scarborough and Headingley, but thought I’d give York a go as well this year. Sounds like it’ll be a cracking day, fingers crossed for the weather!
As S74 says - there was plenty of spaces in the temporary stand last year so you won't struggle to get a seat. Get there 30 mins at least before ko. I parked at the park and ride and walked down - about 20 mins. Cracking ground. If the weather is nice then get the train and you can have a few beers! Sadly I can't make it next week as we're away - p155 poor planning on my part.
surely it'll be more fun at headingley watching the superdooperchargers whilst paying a fortune for parking food & drinks? ;-)
I’ve never spent a penny for parking near Headingley. Within 10 minutes walk there’s plenty of free street parking
I've been, they put up a temporary stand, never seen it totally full, so you should be able to get a seat - but its first come first served, then there's the usual self-seating around the boundary rope. You can get a bus from the train station which goes outside the ground, its a bit of a walk if you want but its a very nice walk along the river!! Its a great day tbf.
There is a guest house (b&b) with parking only 5 mins walk away on Clifton Green called "Greenside" 01904 623631. Cricket supporters have stayed there in previous years.
