We don't decide who other teams are willing to sell, when they make them available, or the financial demands they want met before a deal can be reached. I think it needs to be appreciated we don’t have unlimited money, we’re not choosing in isolation, and we’re not all our targets’ dream club.
Never said we did mate. Never said we had unlimited money either. We're skint. Just said we should be aiming to have our business done as soon as possible, it's clear we've missed out on a few which is fair enough. Other teams have managed it though and it's a statement of fact that we are behind on recruitment. If we start the league campaign without a LWB, the fact other teams haven't wanted to sell to us or players not wanting to come is not an excuse. It's poor recruitment or lack of.
I wholeheartedly agree, and I think that's the intention every season. The reality is, a lot of players won't be allowed to leave until deadline day. That's the reason why it's the spectacle that it is. Most, if not all clubs are in the same boat.
I'd be happy with a solid right footer playing there until an adequate one is found. You can always tweak things and play where you're strongest until you get someone who is naturally left footed.
I would argue we are about 90% there for us to start the season. we only really need a LWB now to have a complete and pretty balanced side. Obviously we would all like a few other options aside from just a LWB but we could easily start the season with what we have now but with a proper LWB.
That’s the problem these days. I want it, and I want it now seems to be the popular mantra for many. Patience is something from the past.
I mean we would all prefer a striker before then and I too hope it is DKD as well. But we have strikers on the books to be able to start the season as we are if it came to it, while we wait for the right signing to come along. But we can't start the season without a LWB imo, that would be poor.
Good point that, Clough is smart enough to have the transfer delayed until after. If he’s not already in will be interesting to see if he starts for them.
Links in well with the prior Mladen interview….. where he states the club are just as frustrated as the fans over signings, but due to the Euros and Copa America comps, PL clubs are holding onto players longer to cover their pre-season tours. It’s only when they return from pre-season tours that the unwanted PL players will be going out on loan. And that’s why the market is still fairly quiet….. first week of August is when he expects that to change……
