Hang on. Didn't you just post an unsubstantiated rumour about the perpetrator? Have you even edited that post?
Not edited any post, what I have posted is what is being said online in 80% of posts. The main issue here is that the Police are saying it’s not an act of ‘terrorism’… if a man enters a Child’s nursery stabbing anyone in sight; how does that not define as ‘terror’?
I’m not, of that you can be sure, but you go for the easy win. My post was referring to those on other media platforms whose first question was ‘what was the colour of his skin etc’, it doesn’t matter what the colour of their skin or sex, this attack was inhumane, if you think my post was anything different then we have nothing else to discuss.
Can people please just count to ten and step back. Totally inappropriate for people to be having slanging matches. I don’t want to have to lock the thread, but I’ll be forced to if it carries on. I’m sure everyone is in agreement that this is absolutely horrific. Let’s just try to be better please, and leave it there.
Truly awful news. Thoughts and prayers to the victims, their families and the services who had to attend and deal with this horrific event. Two children dead, heartbreaking.
I won’t allow you to share names on this site, when there has been nothing published by the authorities. Utterly reckless.
I have to do training on this every year and it includes questions on the specific definition of terrorism. Its purpose has to be to advance a political, religious or ideological cause (as well as being a violent act/damaging property/creating severe disruption etc.) If they don’t believe the man was specifically trying to advance a particular cause then it won’t come under the definition of terrorism.
A few things 1. I don't give a shiny **** if he's English, Welsh, from outer Mongolia or is green and has antenna on his head. What he's done is ******* disgusting and that's all that matters so all you who automatically assume it was a ln asylum seeker and spread hate around should hang your head in shame, all you who focused more on arguing it wasn't an asylum seeker just don't rise to it. Right now it doesn't matter one bit what his background was, that comes later. Right now all that matters is that he rots in hell. 2. Absolutely ******* horrendous for the little kids, not just killed but in such a horrible painful and disgusting way (not that there is a good way). My heart goes out to them and their families who's lives have been destroyed. And 3. Now I don't want this to sound crass but I truly hope that some good comes from this in the way of a massive reform of our knife crime laws. Make it illegal for anyone to carry a knife in public without a good reason, make it illegal to purchase or own anything other than a work knife or kitchen knife and make it an automatic 10 year sentence for anyone found in possession of one with a 20 year sentence for anyone found using one. No minimum age limit, if yours 10 with one tough ****, life over. The only way to eradicate it is by being tough on it and I hope that out of this tragedy can come a change in law that stops it ever happening again like we did with Dunblane and guns
I advise not getting your facts on major incidents from Twitter. Someone baselessly put a Muslim sounding name out there and a story of an immigrant who came on a boat and it's being shared over and over on there. Just hearsay mixed with genuine racism. You agreed with a post saying not to speculate and let the police do their job yet left your original post unedited. The police have since confirmed the perpetrator is 17, from a local village, and originally from Cardiff. As for your last point I see what you're saying but terrorism is by definition about furthering or promoting a specific cause through causing serious harm, fear or terror.. not just doing something that terrifies people. They are saying they don't believe there was any cause or anyone else involved at this stage. That's all.
As a parent all I can think of are the parents/families of the victims. I can't even imagine how you deal with it. We've just got back from a evening at the beach and my non verbal 12 year old has no idea why I have given such a great big hug before bed. No motive of explanation will ever give closure, just so senseless.
I hate being under 18 stops you being named. Everyone should know what the 17 year old is called and looks like. Do a crime like that you shouldn't have your identity protected.
Problem is it's already illegal to kill someone and that's not stopping kids carrying knives, so making it illegal to carry a knife seems futile. Edit that's not to say I woundnt do it, but if you're going to kill someone the thought of being stopped with a knife isn't going to stop you.
It will come out in this case I think. Young kids attending a dance workshop. Just can't believe anyone would do that.
I believe it was a single source, repeated many times. Police have stated he's 17 so won't be naming him, born in Cardiff.
