Couldn't care less as long as we have a red shirt. As others have said, would prefer more white on it but really not that bothered at all
As a “nod to history” JAQ confirmed next seasons home kit would be based on our first ever kit as Barnsley FC after dropping the St Peter’s we will play in blue and white vertical stripes with navy shorts and socks. The away kit will be the St Peter’s kit, Sky blue with maroon sleeves, but after fan backlash will have white shorts. Third kit will be mostly white but with a red trim so we can still sing red and white army at some games.
Until the 1960s Liverpool had white shorts. For more than half their existence they played in red top, white shorts, red socks. But yeah, only BFC do these things.
I voted for white shorts purely for tradition but the truth is I am far more interested in how the team play together over the season and where we end up at the end.
As is everyone but the two aren't mutually exclusive. We seem to have this weird attitude of "that's **** but as long as the team wins then it's ok" towards everything down at Oakwell as if the manager is the one designing the kit, the goalkeeper is in charge of catering or the centre forward is responsible for TVs being turned on etc.
I don't believe for a minute this nonsense branded about, about the Laundry wanting all red, think about it we've been washing white shorts for 100+ seasons but now it's an issue in an age of more advanced washing machines etc. The only way this story could be remotely possible is trying to cut down energy costs or the laundry team has been streamlined. Just don't buy into it, just think JAQ wanted to different for the sake of it and go against tradition, either way looks sh**e
Whilst it' s not the end of the world to play in non-white shorts...... ....voting "not bothered" does give Kidstupid a licence next season to send us out in e.g. turquoise or see-through or NYdrug infused psychadelia. I need to see the last above example before deciding whether I like it though. It might be mind blowing.
Mmmmm...I gather that in homage to this thread that you won't be changing to TykeStupid. I don't mind that attitude. Although Whitey used it on me a while ago. In a manner of speaking. C++t was the word. And then Gally banned me rather than him. Without reply or explanation. That's what freedom of speech is about on here. I am tobyornottoby in spirit if not name. Still banned. Have I mentioned this before? Anyway this kit design stuff is down to a bloke across the Atlantic who has no idea about the local cut of the jib. I'm getting too old to care. The red shirts are pretty nice this year. The starrry ones last year were interesting. White shorts are us.
Exactly this. Traditions matter Service matters Efficiency matters Grammar matters Communication matters Fans matter None of it is of life-changing importance but shouldn’t we just strive to be the best we can be at everything instead of “oh well”?
Progression matters Inclusivity matters Manners and politeness matter People matter inc JAQ Behaviours matter
Why are you trying to paint those who want a return to white shorts as misogynists, behavioural louts and JAQ haters? None of those things are in play in this discussion.
